Rust-oleum satin-excellent rattlecan for things

Racer-X the longer you can leave it set the longer it will last.

thanks, the levers are off the bike till tom. so they'll have overnight to dry, though it is kinda cold in the garage, maybe i'll bring them inside.

all the other parts are really no wear items. i also painted the rear brake reservoir like you, and the shifter linkage the bolts directly to the bike.

think i'll do the frame bolt mid day tom. as long as it doesn't rain.

Oh those rattle cans... don't tell anybody but my Busa has alot of it on it...Like my buddy said [you can't see it from a jet] LOL

Still need to make sure it is good and hard before you start putting things back together as it will be a bummer to peel some off after the work.

k, did the engine and frame bolt.

hmmm gas cap? throttlemeisters? a few fairing bolt heads......

the list is endless

i'll make a thread when i get the P/C stuff back and put it all back together.

Saiid, u da man...when I got my stuff black chromed I couldn't do the shifter side because of what you mentioned...they didn't want to deal with it...so without to much forethought I didn't think my way through how this was going to look...my right brake pedal is black chrome...which really isn't black...so you might have given me the solution I was looking for..thanks my friend...

Did you have to prep it in any way? Or just hit it the amount of times you said to in 30 mins. I have a 06 LE and was wanting to do the same.

Thanks for info

I'm thinkin of doin this to my frame,

I saw someone mention this in another forum. I am curious if anyone here has experience/success with the frame? It would suck if it came out like bad, at least the other parts are below and out of the way.

2hip I sprayed my shifter with it.
I think like 3-4 months later it still looks like I did it yesterday.
Stuff is tuff !

I clean item to be sprayed with rubbing alcohol. Not a painter by nature so this is what ive found to really strip the part well of any grease or fingerprints. Do not touch it after you clean it. Use a stick or 'picker-upper' to work with it. If you touch it no matter how clean your hands are it will not come out right.
spray one coat every 15-20 mins for a total of 4-6 coats over two hrs.
Just shoot it lightly, a really light coat everytime. dont worry about covering whole part perfectly with each coat but try. Over time with 4-6 coats you will get a nice uniform coat on there. About one hour after you apply final coat and part is semi dry to a very light touch set it in sun to 'smooth' it out. I have found that the sun will smooth small imperfections out. After a few hours in the sun set in inside on a shelf for as long as you can, at least 24 hours. Any sooner and you will scratch or peel off paint when your trying to put it back on.
After a few days its dry, after a week or so its hard, after about a month its on there and looks factory.

The frame is a big piece. I have had good results with small parts like shifter, rear master cylinder, nuts and bolts but something that big you may need to spray it right with a proper gun ?
Dont see why you could not do it , just that it would be difficult.

Just did factory sprocket nuts yesterday.
They look great for spray paint !

Good looking out! I will be looking for some!:beerchug:

Hohenfels Germany ?
Are you on base there ?
I think its about the only thing there isnt it ?
Way out in the sticks.
I have sent many things over there to the base.
Lots of furniture !

i think you could do the frame without much of a problem, its a big area like blanca said but not too big, you can make the paint blend pretty easy i think heck i might give it a go and see how it works...

Thanks for the info guys. Think I'm going to experiment with some gold if they have any

I've used the same paint only in anidized red then shot some clear over the top. Its been 3 years and still looks good.

Thru trial and error over the yrs I found this to work the best.
I have painted scope mounts, magazines, gun stocks and many other things and like I said if done right it comes out pretty good.
Not powdercoat or duracoat or gunkote but still for spray its tough stuff.

Ive had MUCH better luck using that Duplicolor truck bed liner spray. Its far more chip resistant then that stuff.

Hey, how bad of an idea is it to leave them outside overnight? Should I have brought them inside? I got around to painting them about an hour before sunset so they didn't get much sun time. I was thinking of letting them hang out there overnight and all day tomorrow while I'm at work. It should get nice and sunny pretty early.
