S-DMS Question

I don't think the mode setting will matter. I think you get the best mileage by putting it in 6th and keeping the rpm as low as possible, 3K or less. Constant throttle.

But man would that be boring! May as well be in a car with the AC on!

Give this man a coconut, best answer yet! The main effect of the S-DMC is to control the secondary butterfly and thereby limit the rate that at which you can accelerate. Apart from at upper 3-figure speeds it has no impact on cruise fuel consumption. So there may be some fuel saving by crawling up to cruise speed in C mode, but once there the mode won't have any impact on consumption. Simple idiom that has been around for years - lead foot (hand) = increased fuel burn

So, Belyzybob and several others are right. There was no impact in MPG when riding 225 miles in mode C over mode A. I filled up at nearly the same mile mark that I always do and have satisfied any curiosity in my mind about the S-DMS.

Thanks for checking Man... Appreciate your efforts :beerchug:

I got 52mpg in C mode riding 2up, taking it easy. That's the best mpg I ever got. That was the once only time I tried C mode.

Thanks for the info. I will also check it this weekend. I will be doing a 500mile all interstate trip

I always stay in A mode in case someone starts changing lanes into me I can get out of the way. I think C mode on the interstate could be a safety issue. I can't understand why Suzuki put that switch on there anyway.
