S1000RR--new Bimmer Sportbike

Check out the review of the new S1000RR in the February issue of "Motorcyclist". Not sure I'd want to own one--but I'd sure like to take one for a ride!

Yeah that's been discussed here in several threads. Was decided that the S1000R is better than a Busa. More HP, Speed etc. Oh and it can turn too.

More speed? We'll see in the coming years if it replaces the Busa at Maxton and Goliad.....kinda doubt it.

Very good idea/concept for a liter bike. Start with an affordable base model, and make all the fancy electronics, options, that you can add or not.
No way I can swing a new bike for a while. But if I could, I'd give it a closer look.

I still prefer my Busa. There will always be a flavor of the month. I couldn't ride either bike to their limit anyways...so all the power, etc is kinda of a moot point.

I almost waited to buy a BMW S1000RR when I sold my FJR last Fall but was concerned with the ergos, the TQ curve, and TQ #'s which are very high up in the RPM range. A good rule of thumb for judging a bikes TQ curve without a Dyno chart is to look at the tach's redline. A very undersquare (short stroke/big bore) motor like the BMW S1000RR has will produce most of it's TQ up high. Great for a race/track bike but not what I'm looking for in a street bike.

Nice bike, and it seems all the reviewers rave about the bike. But it's really no different than buying a liter+ Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Triumph, MV, or Ducati (did I leave out any others?). All of them are much different than the Busa.

They raved about the new R1 motor also ( wasn't impressed ).... they do the " hype the new bike " all the time. Not like you can test ride them and see ( well not around here ). I do like this bike a lot...
