I found this linked on a local board and wanted to share it here too: http://zrxoa.org/forums....umber=1
Being on two wheels exclusively this past year and a half, this really makes me think if the money I save not having a car is really worth while. This past week has been raining. I have to leave the bike out in the rain. Traction is terrible, so last night, I had the rear fish-tail getting on the freeway, and again the day before when I hit a speed bump at an angle and the rear hopped. Three weeks ago, I dropped the bike when the front slipped as I came to a stop at an intersection (minor scratches and a broken brake lever). After reading this, I am beginning to wonder when all the fatigue and stress will finally add up to another repeat of summer 2001 for me.
Anyway, this is probably a good reminder to all of us that we are all very vulnerable on the roads. If you are stressed out, in a hurry, or tired, maybe that is a good time to put the keys down, take a deep breath, and ask yourself if going out right now, especially on two wheels, is really worth it. For those of you that ride just for recreation, wishing you could ride daily rather than commute in that dreaded cage all week, count your blessings instead of cursing them. The grass isn't greener on the other side... trust me.
