scorpio alarms on 2008

If you use the perimiter sensor, or you like to get on the bike before you start it, you will set off the alarm.
This is actually not true. If you carry the remote control, you can approach the bike even with the perimiter sensor engaged. The alarm will not be triggered. As soon as you turn on the ignition the alarm will disable itself. Turning off the ignition will cause the alarm to arm itself after  3 seconds but again...the alarm won't be triggered because you carry the remote.
Returning to the bike without remote however will cause the perimiter sensor to warn and eventually trigger a full alarm cycle.
I just tried approaching my bike with the perimiter armed and the remote in my pocket. The bike started chirping that I was too close. Maybe you aren't using the perimeter sensor on yours?

Is the anti hi jack feature wore installing on my new k8 and if so what is the best place to splice in and put it and what color are the wires on a k8 to cut for the anti hi jack feature. I don't want to cut the wrong one, PLEASE HELP kinda nervous.

Have heard nothing but good things from other members regarding the Spy LM508 alarm:

You have to purchase the install instructions separately?

I am. I can approach the bike with perimeter armed and remote in pocket. No chirping. I can sit on the bike and start it. Only than the alarm will disable itself. If however i approach the bike without remote, it will chirp.
I suggest you get in contact with the manufacturer. The perimiter is not supposed to be triggered when you carry the remote. The shock sensor stays active on mine but defenately not the perimeter sensor.

I have a scorpio on my 14......good alarm but overpriced imo. I decided to try these guys for my busa http://internatrix.com/oscomme....a110181 awesome customer service

I haven't installed the alarm yet, but I wanted an alarm with a pereimter sensor and remote paging like the scorpio. This has almost exactly the same features for $139 and I've heard nothing but good about it so far

The selling directions separate (and charging shipping I believe) for the Spy turned me off immediately. That reeks of bad business and would make me leery of the company period

One thing to keep in mind with the new remotes for the scorpio's is they're rechargeable. Scorpio recommends charging the remote every day. With my system If my remote dies I'm stuck....so I carry extra AAA batteries with me. If your rechargeable remote died I'm not sure what you'd do

Bring your charger along and find the nearest outlet I guess?!?

The I900 works great.  The only catch to the RFID sensor is that it only looks for the fob when you turn on the ignition.  If you use the perimiter sensor, or you like to get on the bike before you start it, you will set off the alarm.  If you turn the ignition on, then back off the alarm will re-arm in 30 seconds.  You can manually disarm the alarm to avoid the noise, but you will need to arm the alarm manually to get the RFID function working again.  It's a pain to get used to, but it works great if you're willing to adapt to the technology (because it's not going to adapt to you).

How long had the alarm been activated when you approached the bike? The remote detection will disable itself after a certain time to reduce battery consumption if I remember correctly.

According to Airtronics the i900 doesn't even check for the remote until you turn on the ignition. Then it sends out a ping to the remote. If the remote is detected it disarms the alarm. If not, it sets off the alarm. It's still the best bike alarm I've worked with to date.

I'm currently charging my remote once every 10 to 14 days. It hasn't died yet.

Good to know...that was my biggest concern with the rechargeable remotes....thanks

I just tested my i900 with perimeter sensor and the RFID in the remote does disable the sensor when I approach the bike while carrying the remote but if I approach without the remote the sensor detects my approach.

Ok so maybe this is a bad question but what is the difference between the SR-i600 and the SR-i900? From looking at Scorpio's site I see the following:
The remote is different
The SR-i900 monitors the remote and it would appear arm's/disarm's with its proximity. The SR-i600 appears to have a similar feature to auto arm but does so based on time after the ignition is shut off and not based on the remotes proximity to the unit.
The SR-i900 is a little more expensive.
They both appear to have the same other features outside of this? So am i missing anything or are these the only real differences between the two modesl?
