Scraping The Brake Lever with 2CT's

Was out detailing my bike finally after the trip from the Busa Bash and found that I must have been scraping the brake a lever a few times on the Dragon.
The Michelin CT2's stick like glue on the twisties

That means you need body position work..... Scraping hard parts is not a good thing! Bikes weren't designed to scrape off hard parts (except harley's )

Lean off that bike to get the bike more upright and have more available traction... also much safer

I am working on the body position each time I go out and ride. Been doing a lot of reading and listening to other riders on body position. Its very hard to break bad habits but its starting to feel better each time I get out and hang an azz cheek off the seat shoulders inline facing into the turn, with arm on the tank, just cant get my heel up and toe pointed properly on the pegs with these sidi boots.
I never realized how much my body position was off until I got the pictures back from riding the Dragon.
I need to start scraping pucks rather then pegs and levers. Hopefully within a couple of weeks, gradually making the change.

Nobody (except Tiller) is ever happy with their body position. I've been tracking for three years and still need tons of work.

Here's Jay being a rockstar...

Forget the suspension bits, Jay's gonna need a new helmet in XXXXXL you keep telling him how good he looks.

Donn, a trackday or two would reallllly help. Otherwise you are out in the wilderness trying to learn it by yourself in an environment not conductive to it...Come down to Barber with me in June and I'll get you hooked up with some really good coaches (Charlie won't be there :moon:)

Kids these days... :banghead:

You kiss Charlie's daughter with that mouth?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

My new RPM red Scorpion EXO-1000 actually came in a few days ago and it's only a Large thank you :moon:

and +100000 on a track day, Donn. That would do you TONS of good and a much safer place to practice (more fun too )

Don a few other things to help get you off the hard deck without rubbing hard parts off too. Go to a 190/55 rear tire. Also raise the rear 1" with a set of dogbones this will help with ground clearance. Get suspension sag base lined too. Balance suspension for your body weight. To soft and you can bottome it out on the suspension when leaned over.... Loose traction and then the bike that way!

Yes your body position also will help keep from using excessive lean angle to arch most corners! Since you brought it up.... If your gear is keeping you from getting into proper position. Sell it and get boots, gloves, helmet, etc so you can move around better on the bike. A pair of gloves can make or break you if they dont fit right! Trust me I know! Take it all in and ask away! We are here to help you!

i agree the 2cts stick like glue, just yesterday me and some friends went riding its a road out here that has some great curves but anyway me and my friend both have 2cts he has a zx10 we both can drag our knees but going through a curve he hit a bump his bike bottomed out hit his oil pan started spraying oil everywhere i dnt know because i was in front, u know im not suppose to be able to lean the busa like that:laugh: but with oil being sprayed all over his back tire the 2cts held the road still like glue because he didnt know he was leaking oil everywhere he kept on knee draggin behind me. we both said we will not trust another tire the 2cts prooved there self beyond a dout...

Thanks for all the advice.
Track days are out of the question. I know how I am and if I do a track day I will want to get involved in it at a competitive level, part of my type a personality. I have a hard time in sports accepting half way meaning street bike / track bike. Been there and done that with motorcycle drag racing. Started out riding to the track and riding home. After a few times I found myself building a drag bike, buying an enclosed trailer and then being involved collecting W-2's at the end of the year.
I enjoy street riding and part of it is the excitement, whats around the next turn, whats over the next hill, hitting that small patch of gravel, etc.
Just figured I would try different a different body postion and see how it feels and reacts to my riding conditions.
As far as the getting the ankle bent to the extreme of how some are capable of doing it, I dont think I am physically capable of bending my ankle to where the ball of my foot is on the peg and my heel is up into the chain gaurd as my knee is outward with the Sidi Vertebra boots they are flexible and comfortable while riding just my size 14 foot is a little different then most pro riders size 7 or 8. plus my legs are long with an inseam of 37"
