Yup EZ pass is no joke. I got reamed on my trip with a buddies car. I had my ez pass in his car but I held it up as I drove through the toll and it did not register a couple of times.
I normaly keep it in my hump while I'm outside of NYC. It workes 95% of the time the other few times when it says tag not read isn't a big deal. They read your plate and as long as the bike is registered on you ezpass account they'll just bill you the normal toll rate.
When I'm in and around NYC I keep it in my breast pocket. I only do this because some of the tolls still have a gate and you may have to show or hand the toll guy your plastic box. It's a real hassle if you have to pull over just to get it out.
Never mount it to the windscreen though... I lost two of them that way.
