does any body have any direction on cutting down the seat foam to make it fit more like a saddle i would like to explore this option before sending to tobin in the future if i screw up i just think a doit yourself mod is much more gratifing then having someone else do it
There are a few people here whohave done thier own seats, I wouldn't know where to start - but make sure that you post documentation of what/how you did it! Good luck.
unless you make your livin in upholstery-give to Tobin. seriously-if you jack it up it will probly not work for tobin to mod correctly so then you gotta go buy another seat and THEN pay'em to mod it-much cheaper to just send out the stocker, IMO. just my .02c
OR just use hard center cell foam, Lay it down with 3m trim adhesive in a spray can. Shake the the hell out of the can. Lay it on and shave it down to your custom fit desire. Shape fist with brand new razor blades, Finish it up with a suffing pad on a die drinder or dremmel. You can get foam of various shape and size and texture at you local fabric store. While your there or check out local upholstry shop and ask if they have scrap big enough to cover you seat . You can get what you need cheap.
When seat base is done to your liking lay it on a peice of paper and fold the paper around it making long thin pizza slice shaped relief cuts in it to get rid of wrinkles and folds. Use this as your pattern for your material. Do it twice if neccesary to enshure fitment. Then transfer patern to material mate reference marks with a pencil to ease alighnment.NOTE texture or design on face of material is it matters.
Then spray glue with same can material backing and foam, and lay material on smooth clean surface , alighn foam place down firmly and wrap slowly and tightly ,making any last minute tims if needed. You could use a staple gun with 1/4 staples to attach once set. Press firmly when stapleing. Warm with hair dryer and rubb down material to tighen it and you have yourself a custom seat.
Just an Idea.
