Seat tightening torque

Gen 2 Manual (pg 9D-14) does not list a torque value:

Gen III Manual page 9D-34 says same as Gen II. No specific torque listed. I had mine off yesterday. Same as always, turn till it stops, and pinch the thread just a tad. Nothing cromagnon, or hulkish....Don't strip it please.

Does not have to be super tight. Noticed the shaft is threaded at the head, sizeable thread, with a pin that intersects the seat base.

Also had the fairings off, first time, it'll make you think a bit.

Well, I suppose that “Every Bolt” should have an assigned torque value so that they don’t get twisted in two but somehow I’ve successfully managed to avoid torque wrenches all my life.

I use to train Mercedes Techs to torque all the important parts, as that was the responsible thing to do. With the correct skill and practice very few actually need a torque wrench.

Personally I am nervous to even attempt a torque wrench on the Busa oil drain plug. I trust my feel better than the torque value in the manual.

All that said, in automotive there are some engine parts where the same bolt may not be re-used and precise torque is essential.

I'm with you there...I use my torque wrench (es) sparingly....lug nuts, and engine components mostly...

Seat bolt torque? Tighten that by feel...heck you can even buy the hand tightened ones on Amazon or ebay which have the Hayabusa logo....no torque rating for those and lots of people put them on their bikes for ease of seat removal.

You going to tell us then ?
I Goggled it....

I Goggled it....
