Silkolene

BUsa_05 the stock filter is stock filter! I have K& N filter on my busa, and the the advantages are that I dont have to change it for the life of my vechile... and my Elenor is marginally smoother with the new filter! I have never put a BMC filter... but I have come across reviews that If performance is what you are wanting out of your Air filter, meaning marginal increase in HP it better to go the BMC way. But my personal experience is that ... Just a air filter does not do anything much for HP gain.

And yeah, you can put silkolene in your busa! I put mobil 1... cause its mor easily available here! No probs at all

We've got something much in common there shenoyp.  And you're right on-point with the filters.  They don't do quite enough as far as power gain to pick one over the other.  I've been running K&N in my '02 since I got it and I occassionally do the track thang.  There is also this other filter on the market simply called The Green Filter.  I see it on ebay all the time and the seller swears that it makes power over either the K&N or BMC.

To really make it worth anyone's while, an air filter would have to give anywhere from 3 to 5 extra ponies for anyone to even consider choosing a particular brand.  Just not gonna happen...
cool, ba. thanks for that reply...i appreciate it.

I just put silkolene in my 01 busa this past week with 4900 miles on her.  I decided to switch to this because of all of the postings that I read about it.  After switching I was expecting that the busa would be considerably quieter.  It was a tad bit quieter but not as much as I thought it would be.  Once I took her on the road though....different story.  She shifted a hell of a lot smoother.  So I am very pleased with it so far.  Hell its only forty dollars!  I figured it couldnt hurt to try it, so I did.

As for oil filter, I switched to purolator ML16818 after reading an oil filter test on the web somewhere.  If I can find it I will post it for you.
thanks bro. I apprecaite it.

still using wesson here

maybe I'll see what the damage will be for the silk. I am sure its about 20 dollars a liter. gas station oil has reached the $9.67 mark so I figure I might as well spend an extra 40 bucks for the good err. Tranny is kinda loud and I am curious if it makes the shifting smoother.....
I got Silkolene for just under $13 a litre at 1888fastlap.com .

Can't ship "hazardous material" over here. I will cruise out this weekend and let you know the damage......an honest guess 60 Euro for 4 liters which would convert to 75 US Dollars, throw in a 13 euro/16.00 US Dollar oil filter and I'm honestly looking at about 90 bucks.........ya see why I like using wesson.....

I ordered it from KneeDraggers.com.  This was the cheapest I found anywhere.
I checked out Kneedraggers...how the hell do you afford the shipping, dude?!

Yeah, tell me about it, just recieved it today, $16.88 for shipping.

4 quarts/liters Silkolen 4T Pro-4 Plus and one K&N oil filter delivered was $72.84.

But when you can't find it locally, or even have the time to try, you just pony up the bills and cry.

I think the local dealer sells it.... wonder how to ship it over to Italy

Got mine at 1888fastlap.com Website is Gone. They were almost $1 cheaper per litre than kneedragger.com when I checked. The folks at 1888fastlap are excellent to deal with, too.
Man, I'm gonna check around here and see if I can't get it from a dealer...that s&h is killer. If I can't find it locally I'll use Mobil 1, I think.

You said you got yours for just under $13.00 a litre, KneeDraggers was $10.99, but theire shipping did suck $$$.
kneedraggers was $13.8X per litre when I checked last. Must have come down on it. Fastlap was $12.9X when I bought mine from them.

Mobile 1 MX4T and K&N filters all the way! No problems or drop in performance in 1400 miles after oil and filter change. No excess clutch slippage, or wear. Autozone sells it for about $8 per pint. That's $32-$40 per oil change (filter replacement pending). So far it's one of the best motorcycle oils I've used.

Gotta Try Silkolene... The 100% Ester Base stocks and other Voodoo Silkolene uses results in noticable improvements. Honest to god SOTP Dyno Improvements. It's one of the few products out there that lives up to their claims.
thumbs-up.gif

You can use all the cracked HydroCarbons, all the PAO basestocks you want, your still not getting the Good stuff. Pony up, and purchase a full Ester based Synthetic just once. Run it for a few thousand miles and see what you think.
