Silver Busa riders question

I'm curious about the cleaning of the Silver Matte finish.

Does it clean up as well as a glossy finish?
Are there any signs of the matte finish changing to a different texture after scrubbing bugs off?

Any other pros or cons about the matte finish?

Knew this was the question just by reading the title.

So… not a silver Busa rider but I did just trade in my 19 matte black GSXS1000 so I think I can help.

Matte does not like to be rubbed. Period. As you mentioned scrubbing bugs off would, over time, leave the finish a bit blotchy as bugs hit wherever and everywhere. I used matte detailer only because if you use anything with wax in it, it will make the finish have a sheen to it.
If you’re like me and like your bike clean all the time this could be an issue.
Almost bought a silver with the blue accents but didn’t want to fight that matte finish after every ride.
Anyway hope this helps.

Weeeeeelllllll, I got the Silver because Black was not going to be it. Also white and blue was not it. It DOES LOOK AEWSOME… But, I’m finding it chips easier due to no clear coat. Was not really expecting that. I’m a little torn on it. Time will tell. The (forgot the proper name) Red~ looks great and really pops. I guess thats why I got this color. The red exhaust out the sides is so cool. We shall see long term…

Bonus: Being the matte surface has less wind resistance you will see a 3-4 mph top speed gain….heh...

I've been using normal spray cleaners and have even used goo gone on the fairings and see no noticeable changes. I'd argue I can't see any difference between new and now...but I also have actual scratches from road debris and an errant zipper. So that would be lies

You could try the trick @WuzzaCBXRider uses on the bugs and lay a wet cloth on them to loosen them up to come off easier.

Surely Suzuki included how to care for the paint on these bikes?

Are you sure there is no clear? I merely ask because sometimes that is an assumption people make based on the appearance. Given, if you are seeing excess wear, that to me is tragic.

Clear coat does not have to be glossy. Available are formulations that come out matte and techniques to rough up the surface. Formulators and painters know how to create this look in a durable manner.

Suzuki should definitely do more continuous improvement on the finish and shiny-bits, not only going back to the prior models like mine but especially now with the price hiking up.

+1
I have used Rustoleum matte clear many times on many surfaces, including bare aluminum, painted steel, and plastic.
It truly dries completely invisible, even after multiple coats, and the finish is incredibly durable.
If I can do that with a rattle can, I'de hate to think that Suzuki could not.

The last few Suzukis I've owned had crappy paint....my Gixxer scratched really easy and the paint wore in a few spots on my Bandit and even my Hayabusa is easy to scratch....and I'm really picky on how I clean it...

That's unfortunate, and suprising.
My gen2, and the dozen others I worked on all had great looking factory paint jobs, and in many colors.
The white on the gsxr I ride looked amazing in the sun too, it had alot of depth and variance depending on lighting and angle, with a blue mixed in.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the black gen3 looks like in person.
The dirt on my bikes makes it hard to tell how good the paint is anyway, lol.

The black, which you know I didnt want looks great..deep color, enough flake in it to really sparkle, but, being black, no way to keep it clean..I wash and wax after EVERY ride if I wanna keep it perfect..pain in the ass..prefer white, as u dont see little blems, and it can be quite dirty and ya cant tell..like my gxxr..

Same with your helmet, and windshield...I get back from a ride, fulla bugs on the helmet and windshield, I soak a wet soft cloth, leave it set for 20 mins, they wipe right off..never buy a face shield, as mine dont get scratched from rubbin on em..1 shield lasts me the life of the helmet, same with windshield, zero scratches because of the soak method.

I can't seem.to avoid scratches just from riding. Living next to beaches is like riding through a sand blaster sometime.

Twenty minutes is unnecessary, the bugs dissolve far sooner under a wet hot towel.

Yep
I wet a couple paper towels with hot water, slowly wipe it across my sheild, and all the bugs and crud comes right off.
No need to wait.
I have some very expensive lens (plastic) cleaner that I spray on (it foams) and I leave it there while I spray the bike..by the time I get done spraying the front of the bike, the helmet is ready to clean....

There is a Company in Germany/Austria. They have developed cleaning equipment especially for motorcycles. This means that the flies can be easily removed without rubbing and intensive cleaning. Screenix is the name of the company. They offer the cloths in buckets so that you have a long supply. Many bikers, especially those with matt lacquers, swear by it that the lacquer stays matt and is cleaned gently.

For me the blue matt lacquer on the white Busa was the reason, why I took a black one. A small scratch in the matt lacquer and that's it, if you have a glossy lacquer you can at least polish off a bit. But the black itself ...... extremely sensitive. Although I clean the bike after every ride, dissolve everything with water and have special sponge cloths for it ... you always have slight scratches, black paints are just beautiful, the 5 minutes they are perfect and clean! :D
