Has anyone bought the Hayabusa stage I kit from this company. I ordered one last week and gave a deposit, I know this might be late to ask but I still would like some feedback. Thanks

i have never heard of them
id be a little careful
but asking for and finding info is the right way to go about it

it appears that it is built by turbobikes research ??
but that isnt confirmed just what ive seen
and i am not sure either way with that company
others might know more

+1 on the RCC kit Velocitys ok  I dont know the complete story but I would definatly be wary of Slowboy I seem to remember a post about them haveing something to do with Andrew at F.A.S.T.

i see that the turbo is water cooled. i think some guys were have problems with the water cooled turbos.....?

Get a refund....Get a RCC or Velocity kit..
GoldenChild, I know you guys know this stuff and I also know you guys like RCC and Velocity but I really would like to know if SlowBoys are just not known or if they have sold crap before, i understand that RCC and Velocity are well known but does that mean that Slow Boys turbo kit isnt any good? Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to argue, just find out if they might sell a good product.

i believe the problem is with stop n go traffic the turbo boiling the coolant because of lack of flow. i was just reading a thread on one of these forums and i think that was the case. do a search on a couple of the forums you will find it. the other issue seems to be just what you are asking- does anyone know about this kit?- if you have to ask and get responses telling you go RCC then when you get the kit if you need support not many are going to have real world experience to share with you on the slowboy kit. RCC is popular for a reason they are tried and true and RCC's tech support is top notch. you might save a few up front dollars on another kit but in the end it probably is not worth it. i can't say anything bad about the kit you are going with because i am not familiar with it but i can tell you the RCC is quality top to bottom. every hose is labeled on both ends the instructions for install are thorough the turbo itself is top quality the plenum is a nice piece the fmu is a great unit etc... you get the picture

here is a reply on another forum. this guy had the water cooled turbo

Yes .
I tried to use the water cooling on my gt28 for a while and it worked ok when your traveling with good water flow in the radiator and airflow thru the rad, but when you stop and idle the water system that has no airflow and not much water flow , boils the water in the turbo and purges water out the reservoir

I've delt with Slow Boy Racing while building up cars. I have no complants and would do business with them again. I've never seen there turbo setup for a bike in person. But as far as the company, they have always been good to me and my friends.

That turbo in their picture sure doesn't look like any Mitsubishi Super 16G I ever saw, and that header looks downright scary. On top of that, running coolant through a turbo on a bike is idiotic.

On the other hand, I have seen some real crap come out of Velocity - bad welds, poor fit, sh*tty maps, along with internal gates that were not clearanced to open fully, etc. Velocity may have gotten better over the past year, but I would stay away from them too!

Your BEST bet is Richard at RCC: www.rccturbos.com He is top notch, his kits are top notch, they make the horsepower he claims, the headers are the best I've seen, and he backs everything up with a 2-year warranty. If you call directly, Richard answers the phone and answers your questions, even if you did not buy the kit from him.

FYI: I have installed and tuned many turbo kits on bikes: Mr. Turbo, Anderson, McXpress, Turbo Bike Research, Ghetto kits, ATP, Velocity, and RCC - to name a few - and SOMETIMES you get what you pay for. RCC makes absolutely the best off-the-shelf kit you can buy, IMO . . .

Then again, if you have 30 grand burning a hole in your pocket, you can go see Seb at NLR . . .

I think I would stay away from that kit also. It is hard to beat the customer support and quality Richard at RCC provides with his kits.

I bought the kit from a 1320 Straightliners. A year ago for what you pay for it's ok. The turbo is a TD05 16.
It comes with a 1:1 fuel presure regulator. So will not make more than 200hp with a safe dutycycle with stock injectors. Walboro 255l fuel pump is good enough to flow 450+hp. Mine failed mid last year taking the pistons with it. Kit came with a 3psi wastegate spring. I needed to buy a 6psi spring.

I made 270rwhp with the kit using S2000 injectors so it works.

If I had to do it again I wouldn't buy it. It did teach me a lot though. Since that time I have done Velocity kits Getto and FAST and all have better materials than this one.

I want to leave you with this a kit is as good as it's support. The guy I bought it from had none.
I had enough technical baggage to get tings to work. Idon't know if you do.

water cooling the bearing housing is pretty much a "shutdown" thing and turbo longevity..

Most turbo failures are bearing (or bushing if you like) related. A turbo really needs to "cool" down after being run.

If you have a turbo on a motor (car, truck or bike) and come off the road with it, it needs some time to cool off. The heat needs to dissipate before shutting off the motor.

When the motor is turned off, oil flow stops.. The remaining oil can be "super heated" as the temps from the hot side of the turbo come down the shaft. Most of the oil will drain down but the residue is turned to "coke" and the housing (and drain lines) over time will gunk up and plug up from this "coke". This has the nasty effect of cutting off the cooling and lubrication of the bearings..

Water cooled housings help adsorb some of this heat. A second method is an oil accumulator.. it holds in reserve an amount of oil that is fed to the turbo "after" the engine is shut down.. IMO this is a much better alternative as it keeps the oil flowing for 3 or 4 minutes after shutdown to the turbo..

If you have a turbo on a motor (car, truck or bike) and come off the road with it, it needs some time to cool off.  The heat needs to dissipate before shutting off the motor.
That is why you should let your turbo bike idle a minute or so before you shut it down.  Unfortunately, trying to run coolant through the center section of a turbo on bike serves only to heat the coolant even higher, overtaxing a cooling system that is already struggling to deal with the extra heat of a turbo in the first place.  The result is your coolant boiling out of your overflow tank onto the ground, and your bike overheating anyway.

An oil accumulator is a great idea, and can be used to "prime" the motor and turbo prior to starting, used again on shutdown to cool the turbo and prevent coking, and can also be on standby should you lose oil pressure totally for any reason.  I see a lot of these in the racing world, not too much on the street.  Letting the bike idle for a minute or so has worked for me in the 30+ years I have been riding turbo street bikes . . .
