it's already been said, but yeah, start in a much lower gear.  If you were a little less then 75, Ida even started in first*.  I read "5th gear and 130" and thought DANG!  5th is for 160 plus minmum.  I usually drop 2 [or maybe 3] gears before takeoff for that kinda fun.  I think you wooda smoked him

* You GOTTA know how to drop into 1st at highway speeds before attempting such a maneuver

If you're hittin it hard... you should have 130mph about midway through 3rd!!

That car is by no means stock.RX8's are what I call turds stock,yea they handle great.You could leave it in 6th gear and walked his ass if stock or mildly turbo'd.That car is pumping some serious juice!!!I would have followed him to see what he had.

Keep in mind I do have a gear change that makes my rpms higher..also Im giving an estimate cause i was paying more attention to the road then the spedo. maybe his car was juiced. i dont know. i have nothing to compare it to. the most likely answer in all fairness is that it was my mistake on starting gear that did it more then anything.

you'll never know the real story till you get a look at his setup.. we have a customer with an RX8 and his ride makes something like 500 hp. He started telling me his parts list and it sounded like he was reading me the Jegs catalog... poor thing tossed most of those parts out on the ground a few days later... but it was fast while it lasted

And remember, it is very easy for all of us to "Monday morning quarterback" you. 4th gear should have walked away from a stock RX8. There was no way that it was stock, no way.
