So my dealer left the office and I was looking at the 2006 Gixxer 1000s. Its a 3 ring binder and I see one of the tabs...says dealer prices.

No I did not look..id have felt guilty about it.

Ok, I did see a few dealer prices awhile back...the guy behind the counter turn the screen right at me. I was getting a free tank because mine came with a paint defect.

Anyhow I saw the lowers were around $310 cost...so they are still making out pretty good if they sell for MSRP....everything that I saw were excellent prices.

aaaah....a prime opportunity! Down the drain....

tsk tsk...

At least say ya peeked a lil bit!

haha. .. as a saleperson this is incredibly funny to me.. you wouldn't believe how many times I've worked deals with the invoice sitting right in front of the customer.. the problem is... car invoices have about 8,000 different prices all over them ranging from MSRP to GM employee.. to absolout cost including hold back and all advertising monies... and every concievable number in between... most of which I would gladly sell the car to you for. hehe.. I always think it's funny when they ask to see it and I just hand it to them like it's no big deal.

"Sure, pick a number and tell me how much your willing to pay me for the hard work i'm about to do on your behalf."

Besides... anybody with some gumption can find car costs on the net with a little finger work.

This gm employee purchase plan for everybody is a really neat deal... I'm not downing it.. but it sure does take the fun out of being a salesman.. I may as well work at walmart.

Yeah, I looked up most of the modern sport bikes and what exactly dealer cost is on them and it's really pretty surprising just how little money dealers make on most of the big bikes... 600cc's + Not much margin.

Used however is a different story...

Hey Bentvalve. For what it's worth, I own both and obviously your friends don't travel much on the busa. They are totally different bikes. Both fun and both with a purpose. If you travel much or long distances you WILL miss the busa smoothness. If you're a twisty rider then you will NOT miss it. Not that the busa can't hang in the twisties, it's just that it's a lot of work to make rapid side to side transitions rather than just think about switching on the liters.

When I bought my 01 in Canada, the dealer showed me his invoice after I paid the bike. I paid 12500 C$ and he paid 12300 C$. He maid 200 + prep fees. Other dealers didn't charge prep fees but inflated the price of the bike.

Sure, I know about it, I saw those pics in the manual too...very nice. Finally they have a Yellow/Black scheme...the new headlight is wicked and finally radial calipers.

Hey Bentvalve.....you'll be sorrrrry! Been there, done that, had an 03 GSX-R1000 and found myself having to take a stretch break at least every half hour or so, not your basic comfy ride, that's for sure. Now I can go and go and only have to stop for gas while on the busa. To each his own though, but remember, in a nutshell, the 1000s are TRACK bikes, the busa and similar rides are STREET bikes.

CCbusa, first from what I gather the 05' is WAY different than the previous year Gixxers. Second, I have talked to 2 people who said the Gixxer was as comfortable as the Busa. Reason being as you are able to sit upright on the Gixxer...not that I have any problem with being slouched over.

Anyhow its not set in stone yet anyways...though I am close to pulling the trigger...going back to the dealer again today to negotiate some more. Again its not all that big of a deal..If I buy it and regret it I will buy another Busa. I will have the experience of the Gixxer under my belt too so I wont have to wonder. Its all good.

Ok, maybe my sense of morals is a little slighted, but if you present me with an opportunity.... I'm all over it. Would have pulled that book over and started to read. when salesman came back I would have started with the questions. then again I am known for being blunt and a slight bit of an a$$....
