Welcome to the board Mike. Don't worry the damage is superficial, the most important thing is to stay protected. Wear your gear ALWAYS. If you don't have it go and buy it. As far as learning on the busa, I'm glad I got mine when I was 41 and not even 31. Age has taught me my limitations, thank God...
You have a good attitude towards the mishaps and you still got a good deal on the bike. It will be fixed in no time and you will have the experience necessary to really enjoy her

so move forward and saddle up...

sorry about the mishap it does happen, not like I did it or anything

work on that throttle control sounds like your very new throttle control is a must, go find yourself a nice area to practice at Take Your Time learning

that side panel is not hurt that bad if you know someone who can paint they can fix that one pretty easy depending on price of course, I went down and mine was alot worse on that same side (dang wet dirt roads) found a girl who could paint, did it for 200 + 100 decal kit and here is finished pic she even had to repaint the tail piece cause it got scratched.

Welcome

and don't feel bad, it happens to everbody once ! Just keep riding and fix it when you can

. You can probably polish out some of the worst looking parts, and the exhaust, well you WERE going to change them anyway. Now you just don't have to wait to justify it to yourself

Hello Mike and welcome.
These guys have just been being to nice.
You went out a bought a busa with no practical motorcycle skills.
No license or permit yet.
I hope when you bought your insurance you went super extra Heavy-Duty limits on the medicals.
You then just casually post that you have been wrecking it into curbs and you have no throttle and clutch control.
Go get training before you ever take that Busa on the road again.
Frickin kills me reading this kind of stuff.

Actually, I didn't "just casually post" in a trying to brag kind of way, but to each his own though

I was just hoping maybe with some pictures added of what a newbie like myself can do to a brand new busa, not knowing what they are doing, might help make someone decision. In fact I Haven't taken it out since I found this forum. I have been too busy reading the tips people have to give. I did however go buy a replacement brake handle and a good riding jacket (Joe Rocket) and some Suzuki riding gloves. I was going to buy the replacement fairing but it seems Suzuki isn't even selling them yet. Monday I am going to go and try to get a walk in place in the MSF class. If not then I am signed up for the next opening which is June 18th. And the only road I have been taking it out on is my neighborhood...I maybe dumb but I'm not stupid

dude, keep calling the msf course EVERY DAY...i did and someone did cancel at the last minute and i got in a month earlier.

Here in GA they do not allow you to cancel. Once you have paid you are in. She did say that on occasion they do have people for whatever reason Not show up. They have VERY STRICKT rules about showing up late. If a person is not there 5 minutes before class starts on the first day then I will be able to get the spot. I will show up a good hour early and just wait and hope

Mike you know why the MSF uses GN 125's and Rebel 250's ?
because they are for learners.
Do you know why pilots start in Cessna 152's ?
because they are for learners
Do you know why student drivers use small 4cyl compact cars ?
because they are for learners.

Guess you missed the small print on the brochure that said the GSX-R series is designed for experienced riders.

Good luck, you are going to need it.

Welcome to the board fellow 60 le owner! Just remember smooth is fast and fast is smooth. Alot of these guys have years of experience riding here on this site but no one started out that way. Take your time and learn! The rest will fall into place!

Mike,
You already have the bike, so it wouldn't do any good to recommend against it, but I think you have seen first hand why most of the poeple on the board would recommend against the Busa as a first bike. It seems that you have a good attitude which is key, but you really need to get some experience behind you. Like was mentioned, the MSF courses are great, because you get quality instruction on technique, but also get time on a small bike to learn the basics. I would argue that whatever idiot sold you the Busa has no morals and feels no social responsibility - you were nothing more than a commission. No one who cared about you or your safety would have sold you that bike.

Anyway, the damage doesn't look that bad, and you aren't hurt - that is the important thing. Remember we are here to help, even when they are offering tough love. It may be hard to understand, but you have joined a virtual family here and you will be taken care of. If you need something, post up. Chances are much better than not that someone will have exactly what you need.

Great pics! Normally, you would get razzed about the reflectors, but I think you'd better leave them on; you need all the safety you can get!
