Some of you might now, some won't but its all good

One of my troops is testing for E-6 as I write this.

You already know this, but you have to put the time in on the books or you will not have anyone to blame but yourself if this is not your year. Don't get burnt out on the material and try not to get frustrated about the amount of knowledge. I understand that you don't see the point in studying material that you do not work on. Although you may not work on it today, or next year, you may fill that spot in the future. Also, what you learn now will prepare you for future tasks or assignments where you may be responsible for equipment of that nature. Every AFSC has the same problem when it comes CDC's and study material. I have a Supply troop that does not have a clue about 90% of his CDC material other than what he has read, that is just the way it is.

As for the PDG, you probably already know but the book is broken down into sections and you do not need to know the entire 500 pages for E-6 testing. Try and read 20 pages, then read those 20 pages again and again until you feel comfortable, then read the next 10 pages and 10 of the prior pages. This way you are repeating the text and applying the material to memory but taking it a decent pace and not burning yourself out.

If you want to get there, you will. Don't listen to the slackers that say "you have no chance so don't waste your time studying". A good buddy of mine in my unit (MSgt as well) was just picked up for SMSgt just this morning. This was his first time testing for SMSgt and he put a lot of time into it and it showed on his board and test scores.

Get to it!

EDIT: I have subscribed to this post and could not tell you anything different than another MSgt in your unit can, but if you want to ask me anything just shoot me a PM. I am not an expert on anything about WAPS, but I have been around a while and might be able to help you out.

Let me know

Alright, so I tested today. I don't think I did terrible on the PDG and I KNOW I got 53 of 100 right on the SKT portion. I only counted the SKT portion because I didn't really think to do it for the PDG.

Either way, I AT LEAST got what I needed on the SKT portion. Fingers are crossed for the PDG. Again, thank you for the good wishes and advice!
