My first streetbike that I actually owned was a Yamaha Seca 550 which I think made around 60-65 hp and it was the second fastest 550 available at the time behind the KZ550.
So your first street bike was the second fastest bike out at the time? And you're giving the people on here who bought the fastest bike as their first, crap? That makes sense.
My oldest son is getting his licence in December as he is turning 16 and I was thinking about getting him a F1 car to start out with. It has about the same performance as a Busa but with a LOT more crash protection! What do you think?

Some people learn from mistakes as well as what they did right. When you have 30+ years in the seat, you'll see things a bit differently than you do after 1 or 2.

Holy smokes man! Are you even reading my posts???? It was the second fastest 550 at the time and it made about 60 hp! (and thats probably being very generous) The Katana 1000 at the time made about 90. You need to understand how much bikes have advanced over the past 30 years. What was the fastest 550 at that time isn't even as fast as what you would consider a beginner bike now. Do some research and think before you respond.
I refreshed my memory by doing a little more research into the old Seca and it turns out that the manufacturer had it rated at 56 hp. Now someone can correct me if I'm wrong but back then I don't think mags even dynoed bikes, they just went with what the manufacturers reported on the engines. If that was the case the old Seca 550 would be making somewhere in the mid to high 40's in the rwhp department. Awesome power huh? An SV650 would eat its lunch, regurgitate it, and then eat it again for dinner!
