speedo fixes?

Guys, thanks for your patience. It seems that I should explain things.

The speedo converter uses a microprocessor chip - a tiny computer chip. We have assembled a few by hand, (one of them is in my bike now) but as you can understand this is a very fiddly thing to assemble and hand-wire. As far as testing goes, we know the unit works well - it has seen many months in development and fine tuning.

The next step in testing is to test the units in the form that they will be sold - on a mass produced high-density miniaturised circuit board. These boards are being manufactured at the moment. I do not anticipate any problems with the finished units, we will have units on sale at the same time as the "test" units go out.

In short, our decision was that it was worth giving away some of our finished products for free in return for feedback regarding their usefulness, ease of installation, suggestions for improvement, reliability reports and so on.

Keep in mind that testing is not really the issue here (Frank!) I had tested the unit on the bench for over two months under different conditions, and have had a unit on my bike now for about two months and it works flawlessly. As far as I am concerned, we have no software errors and no hardware/electronic errors. The next "testing" is merely a formality of gaining user feedback.

So, please be patient, although the final pick has not yet been made we will give out up to 8 units for Hayabusa owners. I have been visiting a number of forums, and preference will go to those who have been posting regularly to the board with mature and helpful technical information.

In the near future I will also contact the moderator of this forum and with his permission offer some type of member discount for members of this forum.

Well it's time to switch to my new DID EVR2 520 chain, and I guess I'll either be forced into returning to the stock gearing, or put my Garmin GPS on my bike. The GPS does work quite well, but would prefer not to use it.

I need a speedo, looks like it might be a few weeks for the AU thing.

Frank, it shouldn't matter what type of ignition you are running. Our unit connects between the stock instrument cluster and the stock speed sensor.

The bike's speed sensor is an "active" (powered) unit that gets its power from the speedo, our product gets its power from the speedo in the same way. Most 3 wire speedo sensors are active units.

Unless you change the speedo cluster or the sensor, shouldn't make a difference.

I built a pretty rugged spike protection circuit inside our product as safeguard against guys who may run high performance coils or ignition circuits, so it should hang in there, even on drag bikes.

I can't guaranatee that your new hi-power ignition won't blow up the stock ECM though...
)

when i run efi i'm staying with the stock ecm.
but when i run carbs i'll be changing to a dyna ignition. there will be no stock ecm to it...

To JeffW, even with the stock gearing expect the speedo to be about 6% out. I have never measured a 'Busa, but on the TLR and GSXR750 they are both about 6% out stock.
Are you going to run a 520 chain on a 'Busa? Brave man... :)

To Frank, eliminating the ECM shouldn't affect our product, like I said above, only the speedo sensor and speedo have to be stock. I am not sure if your stock tacho will work, from what I know on most Suzukis, the tacho is driven from a wire from the ECM, curious...

GOOD NEWS ON THE SPEEDO FRONT!

I got a phone call today from our board manufacturer, the boards will be ready to ship to us in two days.

The first units should be ready to send out (to you!) within a week from that time. I hope we can have units to send by the end of this month.

Thanks for your patience, this has been a big (and long drawn out) project. I will post the selected testers in a few days.

Frank, hang in there buddy! The official list should be posted here tomorrow, time allowing.

I have posted the list of 8 people we have picked to test our product, the posting is in the general section of this forum.

Again many apologies to those who were not picked. Thank you.
