I have a 2005 busa i want to no what is my best front and back sprocket size for me. I am 400lbs and i like speed and to get out quick i have a power commander iii k& n filter with a tre i have size 16 front and 40 back right now.

17 / 40 is standard. 16 / 40 is in the grunt direction if you want to stick with it. You've got the right bike for the job.

Go to a 42 out back. A big guy like you could go lower gearing yet even, but anything more than 16/42 starts to get pretty buzzy at highway speeds. And pick up a used or on sale full exhaust, that will give you a big boost in power as well. A pipe along with your pc, K&N and 16/42 gearing will make you pretty happy I think :beerchug:

Don't forget to install a speedo healer to get your speedometer accurate! I installed a 45 tooth sprocket on my gen2 and installed the speedo healer and it works great! Speedometer is so accurate now!

I went 17/43 on my 2000 busa which seems to be the perfect balance between acceleration and top end for me. Had to use a -15.3% on the speedo healer to compensate.

No you'll get great acceleration but limit your absolute top speed. With that gearing expect to have a theorectical 178 top speed but realistically maybe 168mph.

I run 17/46. Heaviest I have been is 290lbs suited.

well that's still good i don't need to go that fast anyway. just want to pull off with power. want to keep up with those 1000's when they take off.::laugh:

i have the 16/42 on my busa baby and it feels good. really have not had a chance to get a good ride in yet. just got it out of the shop. so what do i do next. dyno i think:laugh::laugh::laugh:
