Starter/Starter Housing

Superbike Mike in South Fla. has built an over 200 H.P. Busa and has also run into the same starter problems. Seems a weak link has been uncovered in high H.P. applications.

I know a guy that had a problem with his starter. Somehow the starter was making weird noised, told him it didn't sound right. The next day it wouldn't start. His bike is in the shop engine out and broken down. Somehow metal from the starter entred the engine.

There is a big back order from Suzuki on the starters and the starter covers. They are made real thin and are pretty fragile (the cover plate that is). And the teeth on the starter are poorly made. Any one else knows anything about this?

I would check with Yosh-JP and the Rad Greaves AMA team. I know that Rad's bike is making 194.5.

But again you need to remember that those bikes are not running 1/4 starts, they are roadracers.

The shock of 200+ hp might be just to much for some of the stock equip.

jeffw let me know as soon as you can on the starter and the starter cover. maybe some one out there makes heavy duty starter and billet starter covers.

I'll give Marc from Factory Pro a call. They make all sorts of billet covers, could be the Busa need to be on their sched.
