Thanks to power sharing, I've ran a couple of those. Also, GE had us do test runs on their lastest and greatest. They were very nice. Overloaded? Just turn on the sanders and put it in notch 8 - no wheel slip, she just walks it up the hill(runeight @ Jan. 12 2007,01:32) black bird killer..
SD 90 Big Mac AC powered. Notice the huge radiators from the heat generated. I belive these are 5500 hp. each.

HP rating of traction motors ? The diesels drive a generator that produces DC I'm sure for the traction motors. DC motors produce more torque than AC and are used in trains, cranes, etc.(runeight @ Jan. 11 2007,22:20)diesels electrics. They have two 16 cyclinder engines.(dadofthree @ Jan. 11 2007,15)9K+ are those the diesels or the electrics?(runeight @ Jan. 08 2007,19:51)Well..you will love this. Man, I love those train pictures.
Case in point. 4 axle trucks, two engines, 9000+ HP. Check the row of radaitors in the middle.
Awesome piece of equipment.

You can see the row of cooling fans on top. It's big! No longer in service due to high mantanence.
They were 6600 hp not 9000 as stated earlier. Sorry.

hardley used anymore. Still required by the FRA but hardley used here anyway.(dadofthree @ Jan. 12 2007,00:06) Few people realize that train engines utilize sand for traction. I found it interesting.
Neither all we add is air and the final product goes through a bank of ultraviolet lights.(dadofthree @ Jan. 11 2007,18:43)Clean facility, I'd be afraid of corrosion. Let's see a little pot ash here, chlorine there.(rocket1 @ Jan. 11 2007,05:39) Bike at work
