The reason to do your own work is becaue you know it will get done right and the mechanics won't scratch up your paint

freind of mine thats service writer told me he just couldnt hardly beleive the amount of people that pay for 600 mile service like something was going to get loose in that short time .. All that needed is oil+ filter change and with a bike like busa you should have already adjusted chain a few times and any dope can do that ,even me.

The factory does use lock tight where needed.

I can say that hey did a pretty good job at cleaning my chain and putting new lube on it plust they also clean the entire bike and makes me feel good about it... man does it really gets dirty... i'm actually planing on taking the farings out this week to see how everything looks under there and since I have the screens for the fairing I will add those while appart.. this site is actually an inspiration, just because if anything goes wrong I know I can find the how to from many of the people here...
I have to admit that this is the best forums I have ever joined.. I know I Have said this before but its true... Thanks all for your inputs, greatly appreciated

The reason the gasket was leaking was most likely because they forgot to change it or forgot to put one on. Get a front and rear stand, a few tools and enjoy doing it yourself.

Well today I took the plunge and started messing with the bike and a few tools and I figure out how to take all the farings, tail, tank, headlight, and front fender off... wife wasn't happy about me dismanteling the bike.

....
but it was a good day for me and figure out a bunch of things

(people do look at you funny riding a dismanteled bike
SHOCKED.gif
) but I took it to a car wash next to my house and sprayed off all the yellow paint(I runned over a recently painted yellow line

) and since everything was off I decided to clay, polish X2, and wax X3 every panel including belly pan... I have to thank you all for the inputs and finnally helping me get off my ass and bond with the mistress...

Definitly will be doing all my own work, i made a stop by the shop to see if a b-king had arrived and saw some of the shop help, no one over 21. Dont mean that they cant do a good job, but, it takes a lot of responsibility to own a machine like this and even more to wrench it! And better yet it would kill me to see one of them joyride my baby!

Dude you were robbed!  And what is checking the torque on the wheels? I've never heard about anyone doing that . ( I know that every bolt has a torque spec ) but checking the torque ? Okay i'll take a torque wrench and see if it clicks , yep it did , well that was worth $70 . Your shop is scamming you !
Hey Friz I see ur from Tacoma! I get there all the time........ my favorite place to eat is Anthony's down at Gig Harbour.......!

will receipts truly be enough if you had a catastrophic failure? like i dunno, something internal, camchain tensioner or something? I guess its a moot point anyway, they will always try and say its not their fault...still aint letting them get mine!

The way I see it is they have the advatage as long I keep taking it back. I don't really care about warranty as even if it suffers a catastrophic failure it's easy and cheap to raplace the bike than it would be any of my cars.
But I don't mind learning more about this bike and the weekend was good enough for me since every one of my fingers hurt today...lol

Yeah I just changed my oil, over to synthetic btw, and learned how the fairings are attached and where the oil filter is and that it drains onto the header pipes making for a smoking front end when the bike is warmed up! Oil smoke was coming out from around the headlight and for a moment there i was like Whhaaaatt....

Doing maintenance yourself lets you get familiar with your bike and probably more comfortable riding it since you know that you tightened down all those fasteners!

I do all my own maitenence on my BUSA. besides if anyone is going to scratch my bike, it's gonna be me...... not a stealership..

Wrap some aluminum foil around the headers to keep the oil off. If you get a little on them shoot some brakeclean on them, cleans them right up.

Of course, now that she's nekkid, get in there and service her the way she needs: Change that oil and filter!

For you newer members there is an online manual---somewhere! I just print what is needed cause it is going to get greasy anyway!

Riccoh,

If worse came to worse, you could alwys go down to that place on Sand Island, behind the ol'd stripper's home. Sand Island Sports Lounge is in the front. If you needed some technical advice, the guy that runs the place is a good source of Hayabusa knowledge.

Keep taking her apart, and putting her back together. In time, you'll have no fear, and beacoup knowledge Brah !!!
