Motogp.. Nice to see you are settling in.

As far as mods go, I would start with Frame Sliders (as someone else mentioned they could save money down the road). Then ride the bike and get use to it. Best mod you can do is the Odometer mod (add mileage to the odometer). This mod is not only an appearance and performance mod, but will probably save you @ss down the road and allow you to focus on more mods in the future.

Something the dealer mentioned to me when I brought my bike back for the first service, "Not to many people bring these (Busa) back for the first service".

Me, "why do they do the service at home?"

Dealer, "No, they wreck them within the first 500-1000 miles. You are an exception, we have sold 10 this season and only 2 have returned. Most of these people where younger (18-25)."

Me, "how do you know they don't just bring it to a different dealer or do the service themselves?"

Dealer, "We call the customer after 2 months if they haven't brought the bike in as a reminder, after two month they have either exceeded the 600 miles or at least are close to it." It is at that point we find they have wrecked the bike."

How accurately does this reflect the issue, don't really know. Am I trying to deter any one from buying the bike? No, I am providing knowledge as you stated, "Knowledge is Power and Power is control". Well hopefully I have added to your knowledge base.

Best regards,

Joe
Thanks everyone for dropping by! I wanted to ask fugly, i'm in a big predicament. I can either get a busa or a GSXR750. I want good handling and comfort on my bike. But i've never ridden a speedbike before. Another guy on a different thread said that he'd never ridden a sportbike before he rode the busa. Said he ended up pulling it over to the side of the road for a while because he was afraid of it. In essence, how much power does this thing really have?? Is it really that much of a handfull. I don't want to sound like a pu$$ie but i don't want to get something i'm not ready for! I really like the busa, but i also want something nimble, and easy to maneuver. Because i plan to take whatever i get out to the track. But then again if the busa would be okay for me to ride, and it is good for track use then this is what i want. As of right now i'm pretty well focused on getting the busa. And as i've said on other threads i'm also pretty confident in my ridding abilities. "Just askin for your opinion."

THANKS!!!

Motogp,

I wish I could help you resolve this predicament but only you can decide which bike you should buy. I think all any of us can do for a fellow rider is to provide enough information for someone to make a sound decision based on there knowledge of the issues and based on what there ultimate goal is with that information. It seems to me that your goal is to purchase a Busa. As you stated, “I’ve been researching the Busa for three yearsâ€￾. I think people on this board have been very helpful in providing answers to you questions:

I guess the question you should ask yourself is; what do I intend to do with the bike I do get (whether Busa, GSX-R750 or scooter)? It seems to me a majority of the questions you present show your obsession (my perception) with speed. With that being said I would not recommend a Busa or GSX-R750 until you start to look this purchase from a different perspective. Although both of these machines are very stable platforms and would be well suited for track and street you should reconsider both of them if your intent is to push the limits of either bike. What I have learned over the years is that each sport bike I have ridden has pushed my limits and I respect each one because of it. Only on the track can you truly push both your limits and the bikes and more often then not it is the rider that is the limiting factor. Watch the post with the Motogp Crash montage, what you see there are world class riders pushing themselves and the bikes to the limits. When either one exceeds that limit the result is tragic, it's bad enough when a crash happens on a track that was designed for these results and all the safety factors are built in. When you are on the road there are no runoffs, air barriers, or med flight when needed. The only safety factors you have are your gear, common sense and a true respect for the beast you are riding.

I guess in leaving, you must keep in mind no matter what you buy it will only go as fast as you twist the throttle. Having all that power in reserve and when to use it is a, maturity, respect (for the machine and yourself) and common sense issue. If you buy the Busa, buy it because it is one of the most stable, comfortable and versatile motorcycles out there and as a bonus it is one Bad @ss MoFo, In that order. If you buy it because it is one Bad @ss MoFo then you will continuously try to prove or demonstrate it to yourself and everyone else, the results of which could be fatal.

You asked,

Joe

ok here is the first mod you have to do. so that way you know what you ride when you look at yourself. second i would say drop to a single exhaust and a sprocket or 2 and see where you like it then the power is all yours and maybe a bmc race filter

Thank you fugly! That is exactly what i needed! I sincerely appreciate your concern. The hayabusa can be the safest bike on the road, or the most dangerous. I realize what you are trying to say, it's not the bike that is dangerous, it is the rider and his mentality on the thing. No i do not have an obsession with speed. I want the bike because i believe that i would be comfortable with it. It is big, mean, and powerful. I'm not a moron. I am not hotheaded and believe that there is a time and place to play, and there is a time for seriousness and maturity. The reason i asked all of the speed questions is because i wanted to see what (other riders), enjoy doing on their bikes. It was just for informational and commaraderie purposes. Yes i do believe in having fun on the bike, but i also believe there is a strict barrier between fun and a$$inine. I want my bike to treat me well, so i plan very steeply to respect the thing for what it is!

Sincerely thankfull,

Your very welcome.. And with that being said, I hope you enjoy the Busa when you get it. Just be safe and ride with the conditions. You hit the nail on the head when you said, "there is a time and a place to play" Knowing when that is, will be the key to survival.

Best of Luck

MotoGP, welcome to the madness. As a fairly new Busa owner, I can tell you that it's very easy to ride. Just take your time to get used to the throttle response and the amount of power available. You can get there quick. I guess the only problem I really have with it is I'll just be cruising down the road, not paying a lot of attention to the speedo, look down and be doing 70. It rides so easy, you don't realize how fast you are going.

Ride it awhile and figure out what mods YOU want. There's so much out there that you can do, do what you want first.
