Scroll down a bit on this thread and you'll see a scanned MCN article on the 2006 ZX-10.

I've heard MCN was full of it, but I didn't know they took it this far.

What am I missing here? I read kind of quickly through the article. nothing jumped out at me.

183bhp? That sounds about right does it not? Its brake hp (crank).

mcn is full of sh#t! what a joke, yeah, the bike is fast and putting out about 167 bhp or so, but 183 bhp, no fu#king way.

Well i have no clue if it makes 183 at the crank with ram air in the mix ..Maybe it does maybe it doesn't ...I know mine made 150.68 at the wheel with 900 miles on the clock and stone stock ... Thats a bunch for a bike that dry wt# 370....Saw a Busa on the same day and same dyno make 155 stone stock with under 1000 miles .........Not much different in hp but the 100 pounds is a BIG difference.....Something to think about for sure...

Looks like someone else doesn't know what BRAKE hp is and didn't read the entire thread before jumping on the bandwagon.

183 BHP on a stout litre isn't out of line. When you factor in parasitic hp loss through the drivetrain and get rwhp it's about right.

Personally witnessed a zx10, without turbo or nitrous pull 186 on dyno.

All he would admit was exhaust mod.
Came back about 3hrs later and pulled 160. Blamed a 20 degree temp increase and 30% humidity increase.

Kawasaki and Yamaha both like to give hp numbers with their "ram air" working...makes for more impressive numbers, which of course sells more bikes. I've always been curious as to how they figure that out tho

Of course most all companies like to use every possible trick in the book to make their products appear the best...its up to us to do the research before we buy........buyer beware they say
