Temped by the dark side!

ZX10 is sort of a non-starter really. It's sales aren't going anywhere, there just isn't much interest. I dunno bro, I'd be more tempted to step away from the Liter bikes and look into a 675 Triumph or the Gixxer 750. Seriously.

The few extra horses offered by the liter bikes isn't worth the penalties in insurance and being in over your head in a hurry. Heck A Hayabusa is more forgiving of lapses and mistakes than any liter bike. Just a thought, but the Triumph 675 is really a sweet ride and a good value, as is the Triumph ST.

Just seems to me that moving to a liter bike may not be the Best answer...

Besides I thought you were pretty well set on a cruiser?

I was, but I keep scraping the pegs on the few cruisers that I have test ridden, and the wife won't ride with me anyway, so I'm looking for a solo bike. I'll try the 675, but so far the ZX-10 feels the best in the saddle.

The GSXR-750 and 600 both bother my lower back after just a few minutes, so those are automatically disqualified.

I know the Hayabusa is more forgiving, but I also want a lighter bike, with comparable power to weight ratio. The ZX is also 158lbs lighter than a Busa, so that gets it a few more points.

I dont think the 1000s are great track bikes without significant work. The trouble is that they pack too much oomph which needs to be put down with good setup. Wrongly dialled in bikes will make a casual track-day end up in tears. Better to stick with a 600 or 750 on the track - more challenging to ride fast as well.

It all boils down to this - on a track day you arent trying to beat the track - you are trying to beat your bike and yourself...your limitations. A 600/750 is more rewarding because it rewards smart shifting and smooth cornering techniques. These bikes are more affected by weight shifting than a 1000 which just gets you out with torque.

Get a gutless bike and try to get it going faster and faster...nothing is more fun than that.

I recommend 250cc track bikes. I think Aprilia has a 125 and 250...look around.

If 125/250 sounds like it is too wimpy - get a 600/675/750.

1000s will be fast - but more scary than fun...

I've also thought about getting a 10 r.
I've had very bad luck with American Suzuki warranty and that may be the deciding factor on which bike I go with next. I love my busa but there warranty at times gave me trouble. Before I get my next ride I'll research there warranty issues.

Okay....All recomendations taken with a grain of salt. I will still take most input into consideration, and I do appreciate the suggestions.

For the record, I'm not a beginner.

I don't want a dedicated track bike, yet.

I know the 600 and 750 bikes are quick, but after the Busa they feel a bit on the guttless side, and I have to ring their necks to get the performance I want.

I want a bike with comparable grunt-n-go as the Hayabusa. It can be a little more, or less, but I want a similar seat of the pants feel with acceleration. I also want a bike that's lighter, and carves corners a bit easier than the Busa (flickability).

I will be taking a few for test rides this week, so that will determine the winner.

I went today to check out the Triumph 995i. It reminded me of the Z7-S, but with a bit more torque, and more weight. I also checked out the Honda 1000RR. It doesn't feel right in the saddle. I know it handles weel, but it just doesn't feel right. I climbed on the saddle of the ZX-10R, and it was more natural.

I'm going to go check out an Aprillia and hopefully get a test ride, and test ride a new ZX-10R tomorrow afternoon. I still have some time before I get a bike, so I still have time to rundown the options.

Man I wish I could talk you out of the ZX-10, I love them. I rode one and it is awesome. I really like the R-1 too, and the GSXR 1000 but I like the ZX-10 look. Best Ninja ever made.... Sorry, go get the ZX. If I had more $$ I would have one, but Busa is my fav. and I can't afford two. If I get another it will be the Busa 07 and sell 06. Gotta have a Busa
