Stock Pipe Mod Sound and MPG.

Yeah I thought It was just me with the ends turning gold, or my eyes tricking me, doesnt bother me, and the color is very nice

I rode to work and back today and I like the way it sounds with nine, 1/2 inch holes in each can. It backfired one time.

DNGrumpy,

That's an awesome post. I remember reading it a while back, and I thank you for linking it here. I'll use it as a guide to doing it the right way.

I've had my stock cans drilled for years now and I average about 42 mpg...the long haul to Deal's Gap in April yielded 50 mpg on the highway, so I'd say there's no impact on mpg...

Thanks VA Busa for the advice. By the way, did you do the Pair Mod, as mentioned in other posts, to decrease (or otherwise eliminate) the backfiring?

(steelhead @ Oct. 17 2006,11:41) Does the Stock Pipe Mod (for sound) cause noticeably lower Miles Per Gallon?

Anyone with long term results care to comment?
Yes it lowers MPG. Lower because the better yer bike sounds the more you wanna gun it!
