Sunday 3/6 ride

My wife Deb & I took a very spirited ride down Hwy 125....a nice, curvy road heading south from Springfield. I love the feel of the bike's altered suspension, but Deb was having come difficulty finding her center of balance with the slightly different seat angle and position in relation to the buddy pegs. The bike feels like it leans in even more readily and I noticed it seems quicker on the transition in "S" turns. Maybe I'm just getting better aquainted with B Rad. As we headed down 125, there's traditional resting place in Bradleyville. We found a large group of sportbikes, including several different makes 600's, a couple Buells, 2 or 3 R1's, a couple of RR1000's, and a black/silver '01 Busa. We rode with them for a while and then found a place for lunch. Here's a pic of the "gang" we encountered:

My wife did not like the ride when I had my raising links installed also. She said it was "bumpier." I figured that was a bad thing, so I took em off. I didn't like em much either.

I got the links from Pro Machining (www.promachining.net) . The install was simple enough. I put the bike on the front and rear stand, and after taking the belly wing off, I used a short 2 x 4 across the bracket for the wing and jacked the rear up (with a floor jack) off the rear stand about 1". You take the 17mm nuts off the links (one on each side...do not attempt to turn the 14mm head bolt). You need to push up slightly on the rear wheel to take the weight off the links and bolts. I slip my knee under the wheel to do this. Pull the bolt out and the wheel & swingarm will nestle back down into the stand. Pull the second bolt out and the links are free. I took this opportunity to lubricate the bearings for the links. To do this simply push the sleeve out that the bolts go through. There are needle bearings at each outer end. With the wheel settled back onto the rear stand, the new links should line up pretty closely. You might need to lift on the wheel or lift the bike with the jack a tad. I believe the torque settings for the nuts is 50 ft lbs. Very easy, in all. I really like the feel, but understandably it's not for everyone. As far as leaves....give us about a month
