Super Bowl

There’s fewer fights now, at least in the Kings games. Back 20 years, each team had a designated fighter, not any more. A lot of fans love the fights, me, eh. It just interrupts the game. Once I saw it live, I was hooked.
I kind of gave up on the NHL for a few reasons...

1. they got rid of (fired) Don Cherry who was to me the ambassador of hockey...I met him and he is an awesome guy
2. years ago CBC sold the rights to the Hockey Night in Canada theme.....as a kid, we'd hear that come on the TV and hurry to get there to watch the game
3. I find there are far too many teams and the talent is watered down to the point of really having one decent player per team

That's why I gravitate towards the lower levels of hockey where the players work hard every game because there are generally scouts sitting in the stands.

We are Leafs fans in my house even though they don't win very often....

Sadly here there are no high school football (or any sports) teams....

I recall in high school we had pep rallies and a lot of school spirit......they have nothing like that anymore....it's really too bad....

I played football in grade 9 and 10 as a wide receiver.....I was fast and could catch a ball......it sucked because I lived on a farm and miles away from the school so getting rides was hard sometimes.......so I missed some here and there but the coach liked me so kept me on....

Years later, while in uniform and deployed, I ran into our defensive tackle.......he was one of the few black kids in our school and joined the military as a mechanic......he was around 6 foot 5 and was a mountain of a man but the nicest guy you would ever meet....

You could have done your warm-up by running to school! :D

That explains your whole post lol. One decent player per team? I absolutely couldn’t agree less lol. The game has evolved, especially in the last 10 years, and it’s more exciting than ever. 3 on 3 OT is hockey nirvana. There isn’t a better league in sports.

Not my thing anymore due to all the reasons I've already stated.....

I've read some good books written about the lifestyle of hockey players back in the day where some of them actually slept in their cars outside arenas and many of them smoked like chimneys, so in that sense, hockey has improved 100%.

Relentless up ice pressure by forwards and centers trying to force turnovers, fierce board battles, the addition of the two line pass… Almost every player works super hard during their shift. If you’ve been watching NHL hockey, it’s hard to understand what you don’t like, but also, I do understand that once you state an opinion, it’s game over lol.
Regardless, I’m really enjoying the 4 Nations Tournament. Doughty just started his season after a broken ankle in preseason so probably won’t see much ice time but Canada is an an awesome opponent.

Sorry @busabobh for raiding your thread.....

But Pablo, this is my neighbor's son.....he's a great fellow and we've had great chats when he visits......the hockey level he plays at is great to watch.
