So yesterday I went and got a new Exhaust put on by Tricked Out Custom Cycles..I posted pics on a thread yesterday...when I picked the bike up,the owner came out and told me "man, you have a fast bike" hmmmm,Im thinking whats so special about my bike,he deals with Busas and 14's all day long?? Yeah I have Nos but so what, thats not uncommon,,,he mentioned something to me that I had no idea what he was talking about...he said you have a "CARPENTER BUILT MOTOR" and theres a 25lb cheater weight bolted on to the motor...I bought the bike 13 months ago from a guy in ohio,he used it strickly as a drag bike and never mentioned to me any work done to the motor.I did a search for carpenter motor and csme up with this http://www.carpenterracing.com/motorcycle_services.htm
so,im guessing this is a good thing???
I have to get it dyno'd to see what she has,the guy I bought it off of said he ran High 7's....didnt really put much weight into it thinking it was a sales pitch and I really have no intent running it down the strip now,not after all the chrome and custom work i have done to it but it would still be nice to know what i have here

does anybody know anything about Carpenter?

I really wish i knew the damn specs, this is gonna drive me nuts now.I cant even tell ppl what im running..hahah

If you have a bike capable of 7's in the quarter you have a motor that is putting out more than 350HP on the bottle. That would mean you definitely have a big bore in there.

I haven't seen many 7 sec nitrous bikes that are street reliable.

yeah, I hate to say it too, but a high 7 second motor will not last long on the street especially if you are riding it hard. You NEED to find out some specs. If you have the previous owners name then you can try calling Bob Carpenter and ask if he has a build sheet on the motor.

Also, one person's high 7's bike might actually mean it's a high 8's bike...in other words it could've been a sales pitch.

Cross your fingers.

so what exhaust did you have on before?

second, why would the owner of a shop know your bike is fast unless he's ridden it on the road? ( I personally would have a problem with this if you didn't know it was gonna happen at drop off)

I was kind of thinking the same thing, but sometimes surprises can be good!

If you have a Carpenter head , Carpenter Racing Engines will be stamped under the #4 intake port spiggot .

he didnt ride it,I guess he was just makeing the statement from what he seen and knows,Im pretty sure it wont do high 7's with me on it,im 290lbs the guy i bought it from was 170....I do have his name so i will have to do some investigating i guess,I want to get her on a dyno,Im thinking it may have to take a trip to Maryland ...GPW!

I had a Hindle carbon fiber full exhaust, now has a Brocks/Hindle short Megaphone full exhaust,,he re mapped it also..it seems to be much more jumpier now!!

If it's been bored and or replated there will be a work order number stamped into the block . Extreme lower on the left hand side . Plastic fairing side of the block .

The 7's may have been in the 1/8 mile .

Man did you get a good buy if that's the case.
Call Carpenter and see if they can help. Some keep pretty good records of what they have done to a particular job should problems arise, especially if they put the motor together and/or did the install. Usually the vin# or motor # is put in with job description and you have the customers name if he's the one who had the work done.

This could explain the holes in the pipes and problem headers!
