I hope I'm not thread jacking.....But can you get close to where you should be, with the stock springs, and shock weighing 235 lbs.

I set up mine the same & Extended it 6 out & it rides alot better than stock , Make work what you have if you don't want to spend the money & it will be good enough for your type of riding.

Definitely worth the effort and money to have your suspension set up right. When my fork seals started leaking 18 months ago, I just decided to rebuild the suspension. It was a great bike before but now, it rides like it's on rails. They guy who installed the Race Tech springs and gold valves set it up for my 260 lbs. He really did know what he was doing and now, I ride 1000% better.

I need to stop being so afraid of trying to fix stuff on my bike, and just try. There isn't any way to REALLY screw anything up messing with the suspension, is there ?

Well you've got me convinced to lookup jinkster's set up guide because my busa has a tendancy to stand up a bit in corners when I hit a bump and that annoys me. I'm a svelte

There really isn't anything you can screw up on your suspension adjustments. Just be sure to check your factory settings and write them down before you start so you can aways go back to where they were before you started. Another pointer, when you turn either your compression or rebound all the way in or out, be sure to be very gentle when the adjustment bottoms or tops out as not to damage the needle seats.

Give her a try, it's not all that complicated. I would recommend you go on line and visit a few of the suspension sites such as Ohlins, GP Suspension etc. and read up on how to adjust your suspension before you begin.
