Suzuki Engineers where are you?

Sorry but i am going to be blunt----The Only reason a "stock" liter bike can't beat a Busa is because they are too short and light in the 1\4 mile-- wheelie prone and can't use all the power they have in the lower gears. Riders of equal ability and weight.

Ks not wasting his breath.... Here's a copy of the letter I sent the corporate office.

To whom it may concern,
On behalf of the 8,255 members of https://www.hayabusa.org I'm writing in regards to your GSX1300R Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle. As a member/owner of this model of bike I would like to express our thanks and appreciation for such a wonderful piece of machinery. However, we feel its time for an update to "our" machine; which as you know has been virtually unchanged for the last six years. Your company motto implies a loyalty to the customer and its that loyalty I'm relying on to help initiate that change. So, let me extend a hand on behalf of the membership to offer up "our" help, We would gladly participate in a survey for this model of motorcycle. We could put together a list of suggestions for improvement using the membership (owners of Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycles). We are open to suggestions, comments, and feedback. Please feel free to visit our site, I think there is a lot of good information to be found on your product.

Hell yeah buddy! Get Suzuki's attention. Sometimes I guess you gotta grab em by the screws to get your voice heard. But I doubt it will do much good. They have sent me two 50 question surveys and I filled both out. But hopefully if they were to see the following the bike has here it might help.

Well said... too bad you'll probably be lucky just to get a form letter style reply thanking you for contacting them...

Let us know if you get a response at all, would ya?

I guess it doesn't really matter to me what Suzuki does to update the Busa.
None of it is going to make MY Busa any better, faster or more comfortable.

I bought a bike that does it better than any other bike. The only thing
it doesn't match up with are those little boy toy dirt bikes.
The current Busa ('99 - '05) Out accelerates, out handles, out cruises,
out brakes, out tours and of course out speeds anything you can buy in the US.
All that and rock solid reliability. More Busas are killed by the Pilot than all other part failures combined.
So to me the whole thing is a mute point.

Do you honestly believe that? Ok, I could give you the accel and speed parts... the busa is a boulevard cruisin' King no doubt... I can't speak on touring so you can have that, too... but honestly bro... "out handles" and "out brakes"?

Have you actually rode any of the new litres or 600's man?

Yes actually I have. My garage usually has between 2 & 6 bikes that
don't belong to me. Especially at this time of year. Plus I break in alot of bikes for friends.

And you still think that a stock busa out brakes and out handles them all?
rock.gif
Yup. I wrote what I wrote knowing what I know.
Now I'm not saying that better RIDERs can't brake or handle
better. Some bikes may turn easier or brake with less effort.
But I can say that on anything I've ridden I get
better results on the Busa. And I say that despite the fact
the best bike I ever rode was a '94 RF900R.

I assume that all the talk is about drag racing and not road racing. The liter bikes are originally designed for road racing. The busa is designed for sport touring. The busa has no competition in that arena. Now if you take either of these to modify for your own needs then you get what you get.

Manufactures pour tons of $$ into winning championships like MotoGP,AMAetc

Upgrading a sport touring bike probably isn't there first priority.

Well howlin I don't disagree that whatever brand wins races is what sells for company but the busa deserves better. It has made so much money for zuk it's not even funny. To say that since this bike is a sport/touring bike so it doesn't deserve developments is WRONG

the busa may be getting old, but i came from a zx12r ninja to the busa last year and before the ninja i had a cbr100xx blackbird, and there is no comparision, the busa has it hands down in comfort, style, power, and handling. i would bet that suzuki is watching very closely and will make the changes when they are really needed, right now they are on top and they know it.
remember about not fixing it if it isn't broken ?

All the Busas at my local dealer are all sold out until April. They'll receive a new shipment along with the new 1000's. As long as the Busa sells well, Zuk will hold out on the new Busa until the time. For me personally, that'll give me some time to enjoy my new '05. I hope they'll have something new by '07 b/c that's when I'll buy my next scoot (currently thinking of the zx-10R) but if the Busa is redone, I'm putting my money back to a new Zuk.

After reading everyone's .02 cents I would like to add mine as well as give a thumbs up to everyone's input. So here it goes:

Better Brakes (Why make a bike faster if you can't stop it faster?)

Stiffer Springs (I feel the majority of Busa Riders are in the 190 lb range)

Lighter Wheels (Just a pound or two will make all the difference in the world, just buy going to lighter rotors I was able to tell the difference)

For us Twisty guys, the capability to change the ride height and the wheel base (greater adjustability, with my bike going up an inch in the rear and bring the rear wheel in about an inch has increased the flick ability of my bike 3 fold)

Lower over all bike weight by 10 to 20 lbs (when I changed my exhaust this was done before my suspension upgrade, and wow what a difference. Just think if they were to change the headlight alone from glass to high impact non scratch able non fogging plastic.... hmmmm 7 to 10 lbs right there)

I'm sure that I missed something please feel free to chime in.
