My wife has been watching the GSXR750 and was hoping to get one when released. She will not be happy to hear the news.
She was looking forward to it being a little Busa in Looks. I have read the same information on perfomance.
Do others here feel the Busa "look" will hurt sales?
I don't. The Busa looks grew on me over time.
A photo of the 2000 GSXR750, looks like an artists version, can be found in Septembers Motor Cyclist mag.

I really wish suzuki would stay with what they came up with.
That styling kicks ass, they actually have there own thing going for them.
Now its gonna have fairing similar to r6 for their 750,why?
Just imagine how cool it would be,pulling up next to one on the road....aahh baby 'BUSA!

From MCW 11/8/99 (or 8/11/99 for you lot over there)

SUZUKI IS so concerned that the Hayabusa styling of its new-for-2000 GSX-R750 will be rejected, that it's gone back to the drawing board.

It means the launch will be slightly delayed. The all-new GSX-R superbike was expected to be revealed at the Milan Show next month but it is understood to have been put off until the Paris Show in October to give designers time to make some styling changes.

While the Hayabusa has been enormously successful around the world, the firm fears the oddball aerodynamic shape makes it look heavier than it really is. And that will be a genuine concern to out-and-out sports bike buyers.

The cyclops-style headlight has been ditched in favour of a twin headlamp setup with a single ram-air duct similar to Yamaha's R6.

The bike is now undergoing final tests at the Ryuo track near Suzuki's Hamamatsu headquarters in Japan.

It will cost around £7300 and produce around 140bhp, compared to the current 135bhp at the crank. It will also lose weight, going from 179kg (393.8lb) to around 170kg (374lb).

Suzuki will also launch a limited edition SP version to meet new World Superbikes rules. It's likely to cost around £20,000.

They had a drawing of what the 750 might look like in this months Motor Cyclist magazine. I thought it looked pretty good. It didn't look like a gixxer but I'll bet it would have sold.

"aahh baby 'BUSA!"

True, if they had kept the same shape, we would indeed have a sporty sibling to play with in the schoolyard.

But, if they do ultimately reel themselves back in and go with something they feel will be more acceptable, then the 'busa's looks will still be original in every sense of the word. This is trying to look at from a brighter perspective of course. I'd rather have the 750 looking like a baby 'busa any day. That'd be one baby with a helluva bite.
