Tall Stack Air Box Mod

It's says 02-07. had a look for a 99 onwards busa and still throws up the 02-07. Do you know if this will this work on my 2000? ???

boost by smith is a site sponsor and petrik is a member here, i dont think those ecus will work as ive read a couple threads about ecu swaps, i dont have a concrete answer but either of those guys can.

Does anyone have any documentation or proven data about what the performance gains or losses are with going with all short or all tall stacks?

I dont have proof but there is definitely an increase in low end power. It is very much noticeable

Guys,

I remembered reading on here a few months ago about swapping the 2 small air box stacks for 2 tall ones to increase mid range power.... Well, managed to get an air box with some spare parts I bought from a girl selling off her ex's Busa (not sure if he knew about it!!) from Ebay. Anyway, for those that haven't done it has got to be one of the easiest & cheapest mods for instant power! I finally got the chance on Friday to fully open up my busa from 2000 rpm in second and the difference in pickup and power is amazing! I have a Pipercross Air Filter also. If it's something you haven't done, I seriously recommend it!! :cheerleader:
I previously used pipercross filter too.i discovered the front part of the foam became brittle and it start peeling off when i touched it.using 4 long stock stacks too.i totally agree with you

RussellJ- thanks for the info. You indicate that there is an increase in low end power, but with which combination is that ????

I removed the baffles and packing from my exhaust which made me lose low end power but when i switched to long tubes it brough all that low end back... It evened everything out. So with normal aftermarket exhaust you should notice a good increase in low end power with the long stacks alone. I know Rainbow7 on here has long stacks that can vouch for it also

Im looking at doing the long stacks as well for more mid range. But does anyone know if you lose power in the high end from this mod?

Yes you probably lose on the high end by are you really going to notice?

If i don't notice i don't care lol. But on top of the +3 in the rear i would hope i don't lose to much on top

Do you race your bike? If you don't, it shouldn't hurt you any.

Not yet but this year id like to get it on some trackdays and maybe a few trips down the drag strip. Other than that it will be my everyday riding bike

ok, good to know. I have heard different comments with the stacks, but no one seems to have solid data on what the affects are.:banghead:

Yeah you will never find date one just the stacks. No one will do a dyno before and after just installing stacks
