Taxes are killing my bike purchase

So I have been toying with the idea of buying a bike as opposed to painting mine white. Still under review....Anyway, I found a sweet 06 for sale and here is the breakdown.

If...if I can get the bike for $5500, I have to add my currency conversion, now it's approx- $58-5900, add 13% tax..( owwww) $767 plus the $225 RIV fee ( to import bike into Canada) plus $ 40 for certification for insurance/plating.

Now I am at $6945.00. Sucks!! So the 06 I was looking at here makes sense here for $7000. If I buy in the US at a lower price point, all the added charges ect kibosh the deal for me.

That number does not include travel costs to bike location btw. So now I am definatley over $7000. And I must be missing something....right?

So when I see the great deals to be had I have to add close to $2000 gs onto that price. So now it's not such a great deal......for me.......

you are having some trouble with this decision i think from reading previous posts ,

if you need to think about it that much then i reckon you already know the answer

good luck anyway

Ummmm.... I did my math all wrong actually.

I would SAVE approx $1200 buying stateside, yes, I am a ding dong and YES I can't make a bloody decsion!!!

Why don't you figure in $1000 a month for a family health insurance your not paying living in Canada, it's a no-brainer. LOL:whistle:

I've imported several bikes and boats from the USA and have had no problems. My brother in law just bought his daughter a Spyder in Florida and saved about $4 grand! You need to have your ducks in a row and it takes a few weeks to get every thing done but I know you can get a much better price on purchasing in the States. I think you'll save 10% or more.
