The 200+ Club

(BUSAFETT @ Mar. 18 2007,16:06) 120's been my top to date, and that was on a beautiful clear day with excellent visibility and no crosswind.

I'd love to get to the higher #s but will prob never do it- as soon as I go past 80 I start seeing my wife and kid inside my shield.

That's heavy and I like it. Deep!

Toped it of to the limiter before the TRE, top it of a fiew times afther the TRE, speedo was saying 300 and GPS 307 on my fastest run so far, usealy going around 290 to 300 when gunning it to the max on the GPS.

Bought a digi cam at the end of last year, by the time summer hits up here I'll do a fiew vids of our runs, speed and twisties runs alike.

BTW: km/h ;)

(Shanling @ Mar. 18 2007,14:48) Had a run with a Porsche. dusted him easily and the speedo was just past 160 when I glanced at it and backed off of the throttle. When I stopped later, I checked my GPS and it read 134 as my top speed. Error rate is very high on these.
A GPS isn't always dead on perfect accurate either. I'm betting you were doing 150ish or so.

I have one of those lil yelow gps budget units. Not bad but not the greatest out there. I've ran to a speedo indicated 170 and the gps read 159mph. Pretty accurate though the gps has shown it can be weird at times. Did 160 once and the gps only showed 106mph. Ran 110 another time and the gps showed 140.

Funny things can happen with that signal. Best to make sure your batteries are proper too.

This was all on secret test tracks too btw.

I understand what your saying. I am runnig the newest GPS out. Garmon Zumo made specifically for a motorcycle and wired into the bike's electrical system. Not running off of a battery. Refresh rate is something like once per second so accuracy is much better. In fact, when I ride I can use it to gage my speed more accurate then the speedo and it changes instantly with the throttle. I agree with you on an older, cheaper unit with a refresh rate that is super slow in comparison. I think this unit is pretty dead on. Believe me, I was dissappointed when I saw the 134 and thought it would have been much higher but it is what it is.

Had my 99 750 pegged in 5th on a race track ofcourse. ~160 mph maybe? Then it was time to turn into 1. Not really sure, wife made me tape up the speedo after I told her I saw it pass 150 with ease.

Factory Limiter 186. I know thats unaccurate so whatever the limiter on a stock Busa is thats where I been. Gotta say I loved it though. I have done it about 8-10 times or so. haha

(bigoltool @ Mar. 18 2007,22:47) Mine does about 180mph every time I turn on the key!

I have the slowest BUSA in history! But mine will outlast all of yours.

You need to not exceed what you think is safe in your own mind and abilities. I have hit a true 211mph My Busa will go beyon that but I am not sure I am anymore. each year this comes up. Best thing is NEVER NEVER try to hit 200mph because someone else has or is egging you on.

First off, I don't have a TRE.

Before I went to 16/42, I hit the limiter in 6th gear twice. So... that is probably low 180's. I didn't have the speedohealer for top speed recall at that time.

Since 16/42 I've hit the limiter in 6th quite a few times. I got the speedohealer at the same time I went to 16/42 and on the Dyno the top speed in 6th (speed according to dyno) is 173. Speedometer with speedohealer showed 175, so my indicated top speed is pretty close on my speedo

Interesting to note that with 16/42, you don't get much more top speed out of 6th @ 10,200 than you get in 5th @ 10,800. They are both right in the low 170 MPH range... plenty fast for the street.

I've been 208.6 at Hunter Army Airfield on the Runway. Nice to have 14,000 feet of usable concrete to run on...

Took everything I had and wiped out the front pads trying to stop.
