Hard to believe they still allow semi trucks on that road! And the lack of gear some of those riders have...
True story:
about 8 years ago I ran the dragon for the first time.. I was in Vonore at a steel plant dropping a 48,000lb coil off.. Looking at my map, I could go back north to 40 and then up the gorge or run south down hwy 129, sure looked shorter on paper..
Off I go, empty and 35,000lb with a 53' spread axle drop deck trailer..
There were no signs, no warnings not even a hint of what lay ahead..
Only saving grace was this was late January or so and I did not see a single vehicle all the way across..
This was a ride of pure stress and used every ounce of driving ability I had learned.. It required I use every square inch of road and even then I would have axles hanging over road sides airborn..
Needless to say, by the time I finished the run, i was completely exhausted from the stress and the turns.. (big trucks can steer heavy)..
To this day. there is one lousy sign warning truckers... (and it is at the point of no return unless you act right away).. you are right, that road should be posted and posted and posted again... I can not even imagine running that road with any cars on it much less bikes...
