Awesome..............So did you get to test ride or just sit on it at the dealer?

I'm interested in a comparison to the GoldWing and FJR.

Very Nice Looking Bike.

Great post.

We thought about picking up a used Goldwing. I wanted the 1999/2000 1500 cc model. There are some good buys and most owners treat them like a first born child. Around 10 to 12 thousand for a low mileage clean one.

Compare Goldwing to FJR? It's the Wing baby!

The FJR is a fantastic bike however it did not work out for two up riding for us. I am "not" saying anything negative about the bike but Mikki just did not like riding on the back of it. She had become spoiled on the back of our 2001 Goldwing which was sold years ago. I went through two (2) set's of seats and installed a GIVI rear trunk with backrest.

I wanted the 2007 Stratoliner. Wanted it bad too! She sat on the back and said the seat had to go. Terrible rear pillion. I said it's not a problem as I had a list of accessories I wanted. $3600 worth to be exact.

The 2007 Stratoliner was 13,300 OTD plus 15% off accessories. I did not want to mess with install so labor was another $400.00. (we had not finalized a deal)

Add the above and it was roughly $16,700 for a decked out 2007 Stratoliner. What I had was..a decked out cruiser.

I told Mikki on the way up if this cruiser was not right "for her" than will go look at a BMW 1200 LT. (heard a rumor they will be discontinued in 09)

The 2008 Venture speaks for it's self. Not sure about raw power being 1300 cc's but if I want raw power I'll ride the Busa. We needed a bike "for us" and this fit the bill. The seats are to die for.

So, bought a 2008 Venture "S" model with just about everything on it with the exception of some passing lights. Retail is $17,600 for the "S" model. I bought it for $15,500 which is $1200 cheaper than the Stratoliner decked out. Just made more sense to go this route.

Details here.

The Venture is real nice and I would call it a mini wing. Lighter with plenty of storage and factory accessories. 1800 cc's it's not. The five (5) year unlimited warranty was a big plus also.

Here is my FJR which is for sale on Craig's list. I have yet to post here.

glad you found something both of you are happy with, there just aren't many things better than splitting the breeze with your baby on the back

Did the swimming pool in the picture come with the bike?

If I had the cash I'd buy the FJR from you right now.  I gave it up as a sign of good faith in a marriage that failed anyway.  I miss the FJR for longer rides.  I'm not about to borrow money for more toys.  Cash or nothing till I recoup my losses.

Congrats on the VStar. Very nice bikes.

I can do the Busa and I could do the FJR but never that thing. Might as well have gotton yourself a Goldwing trike or better yet just sell all the bike and get yourself a RV

Please save your money.

Well, we got "the Buick" home the other day. Put 200 miles on her yesterday.

Bike is on the heavy side coming in at 870 pounds wet. Getting use to floor boards and foot brake. Things that I immediately noticed was this thing rides like your Fathers Buick! Good Lord it's comfy. You feel hardly nothing when going down the road. The bike has air adjustments in the front forks and rear shock but for now it's fine. Talk about a big front tire!

150/80/16.

Since we are doing break in miles my shift points are kept low however I can see that the RPM will need to be kept on the high side. Torque specs say this. I believe max torque was around 4600 RPM. 1300 cc's seem a little small for a bike this size and weight. 104 inches long so careful where you park.

I will have to mount some different tie down points on the trailer but we just wanted to get her home. The Baxley chock was wonderful.

Further updates down the road.

Happy Mother's Day to our female members and Brendanp.

The "boss" giving the OK. Funny, she didn't sign the loan papers!

She is the smart one of the family.
