Thoughts on this swing arm extensions

Hear me out, I'm definitely not someone who likes to do stuff half ass. With that being said I've been considering an extended swingarm two to four inch extension but I'm really concerned I will not like the rideability of the bike in the turns. Thoughts about trying some extensions before purchasing an expensive swingarm?
Hi. How hard do you like to corner now. Do you grind hard patrs on the bike now? Most riders will not notice that much different with a 2 to 4 over arm. The 240 will add a bit slower turing to it too. But most people can not come close to the max of the cornering limit of the busa anyway. How fast can you go around a lets say a posted 40 MPH corner 60 80 90 MPH. See if you can rided a strached 240 or 300 bike to see if you like it or not.

Keep in mind extensions either bolt on or swingarm completely changes the bikes handling and brakes. If your ok with longer oh crap stops or not able to make turns as well then it's ok. If you don't like it just reinstall it back to factory, just don't toss or sell the factory hardware.

I loved my slammed 2006 gsxr1000, she was 5 over and yep she hauled ass at the strip. One night I landed in the hospital 18 broken bones for 8 months and short story, I was unable to stop and get out of the way of a pulling out slow car from a gas station as I was only cruising at 55mph. Under the car I went.

My leathers saved my life, my helmet which was a shoei x11 collapsed on my face introducing new amazing scars that add character.

No offense to anyone, just Personal opinion on my experiences-a stretch won’t hurt “ oh poop” stops if you really good with your braking, and sometimes it will help straight line braking, to a extent.

Here me out-70-80% of braking comes from the front wheel anyway. Get on them hard enough and you floating the rear tire As it is and the rear brake is useless. Now with a stretch, it’s harder to float that rear tire in the air and if you bothered to keep the rear brake when u stretched it, u can use it.

Problem is Most people stretch a bike, slam it so there’s barely a 1” of suspension travel, (affects braking) don’t put the rear caliper back on, Also take one front rotor and caliper off, and then wonder why they can’t stop on a dime anymore, and they not used to riding a stretch in a oh poop dip and swerve maneuver moment-and then other ppl say oh u crashed cuz u stretched it. a streetable stretched bike will lean over til u dragging parts but flickability is gone

Just my kinda off topic two cents.

Stretch your bike OP. Just buy good quality extensions in case u don’t like it before u swap the arm

why do you think a 5” stretch made it so you couldn’t panic stop?

inexperience or going too fast for your ability causes these types of crashes.... u shouldnt blame the bike. it wasnt the bike. it was the rider. it happens, but you have to own it and learn something from the experience. Learn what you SHOULD have done in that situation. Blaming the bike isnt the way. We have ALL been there, im sorry to hear the extent of your injuries, you paid a HEAVY price. Dont let it happen again.
Oh I wasn't blaming the bike. There is plenty of reviews of extended bikes stop radius vs factory. I was just stating the unfortunate fact, not all situations are controlled or avoidable. It's in everyone's best interest when riding on the street it's not hinder any safety features that may or may not help give you that extra stopping clearance and/or turning ability to possibly avoid a car that pulled out.

But again, it's entirely up to the rider to pick and choose the direction of the build. It's easy to chase every bolt-on or mod. It's another thing to accidentally kill a road bike make it into a full track bike for Street use. I love buying products for my bikes, I'm personally avoiding extending it because I want to keep her and I learned entirely from my past. I do however like the bike lowered and extended, it looks better and it's more comfortable. I only wish I had a 2nd Busa to make her my 1/8 and 1/4 mile fun bike.

I just extended mine +4 and haven’t even ridden it yet. I kept my rear brake because I enjoy riding my bike for long distances and it’s not a complete race bike. No way I’m taking off brakes unless I’m on the track only.
