Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had advice or even a hook up in the Boston area for speeding tickets. ( State trooper)

Was I wrong? Yes.

Do I want points on my license? No.

I was definitely doing some spirited riding on some twisty roads and then the blue lights came on. I thought about running, but it's not worth it. I'd rather live and pay for a ticket then die trying to run. So anyway the officer did cut me some slack and he was pretty cool about the whole thing, but I'm worried about insurance. I don't want any additional points on my license. Help if you can..........TIA

In California you can go to traffic school to get the ticket off you record. I don't know about Boston. You still have to pay the fine and for the traffic school but the ticket wont count on your record

You could join AAA and take the defensive driving course and get the 2 points of your license.Or you could go to www.ticketkiller.com it worked for me. I got a speed ticket for doing 63mph in a 40 mph reduced to a parking ticket. If you don't win your case they give you your $40 back

40 in a 30.... man that has to about the slowest Busa ticket in history....

Don't feel bad though, I once got a ticket for 32 in a 25 on my 750... Talk about a waste of time...

Dang go to court or get a lawyer. In a case like that they may just make you pay court cost and will probably reduce the speeding to something that wont show up on your insurance.

Sometimes you can get the ticket deferred...........you have to go to court and ask the officer.........you pay the fine, but if you don't get another ticket in 6 months, the ticket never shows up on your record and you don't lose any points. Most insurance companies(except progressive) don't even try to keep up with speeding tickets, unless there was an accident involved. Good luck!!!

If this is your first ticket they may give you a warning if you go to court. They will try to go through the docket to lighten the court load.

Practice playing in the rules almost all the time and when you break the rules, really break them... Hate to get a frivoulous ticket that will affect insurance especially when I wasn't having that much fun breaking the rules anyway...

When I get a ticket, I want to make damn sure it was worth it!!!

I have Pre-Paid legal service which cost me $17.00 per month and it covers your entire family. I got a ticket in my cage for going 65 in a 55mph zone and all I had to do was call the law firm that handles all my legal matters and they had me fax them the ticket and they handled it from there. They reduced my ticket to a civil fine and all I had to do was pay the fine and did not have to go to traffic school nor did I have to worry about the insurance or points.

No...............He gave me a 40 in a 30. I was racing with these two nut cases. We hit an apex and I passed one on a turn then I was preparing for the next turn when I saw the lights. The officer said I was doing 70 when I slowed.......

He was nice, but I don't want no points.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll look into this. I'll try to go to court and hopefully I won't get points.

Oh yeah. Ninja!!!!!!! I was riding with the guy from Xtreme Performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bastahd!!!!!!

Not Dave but the other one............

Appear in court and ask the prosecutor if he'd be will to drop the ticket to 39 in a 30. That should keep the points off.

Just a heads up... If he cut you some slack on the side of the road he probably included that in his notes. If it goes to court he'll prolly tell the judge yer actual speed and that he cut you some slack. Puts things into a whole new perspective for the judge. Once the judge knows that you already caught a huge break from the officer and still tried to fight it, chances are you'll get burned. Seen it happen a buncha times before. I've even seen the judge change the speed from the lower speed the officer wrote to the speed he testifies to in court and assess fines and points accordingly. It's yer ass so take the risk if you wanna...

My advice? You've been had, and already caught a huge break... pay the piper and be thankful for the break you got. 70 in a 30 could prolly pass in court as reckless drivin' and would prolly automatically suspend yer license. I'm certain racin' would.

You can check Boston's points system but in GA, if it's 14 mph over or less it doesn't go against yer license.

I lived in Mass for 22 summers( Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard) when you contest a ticket in Mass you get a court date and you first meet with a magistrate and plead your case.
If he is sympathetic and likes your story they usually offer to cut it in half or nolle it.
If you don't come to a resolution then you get a new date for a trial and go in front of the judge.
My last ticket in Mass was 10 years ago and I had to go to Bridgewater Court and I had some cock and bull story he liked so he gave me a break and nolled it.
Mass uses the step system with 9 being the best up to whatever, if you are a step 9 and only got a 2 points ticket surcharges don't go into effect until step 15.

Bt,

Thanks man for the heads up. I'm currently a step 9 which is the lowest step ( read best )

I don't want to fight and get busted in the process. I was hoping to pay the fine and get zero points. I'll appreciate your advice. I'll definitely think on it some more.

I'm looking for the point system in Mass, but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas?
