I also ride like a sport-tourer - lots of 200-400 mile trips (and I commute 55 miles daily) - have 5000 now on a Pilot Road rear - looks like I'm about 1/2 way through the legal tread.

The rear does not feel as planted as the Pilot Power rear I had before, but still solid, and it looks like I'll get 9-10K out of the rear before I look to replace (I always replace with tread left - too much rain down here to ride a slick)

I've got a little white reminder cord down the middle of my Stock Bridgestones now at 7,200 miles. Got a quote from Tejas Suzuki in Highlands Tx. for a 190 Supermaxx rear for $113.00+$18.00  M/B. I believe I'll try one.
