TIRED OF THE SMOKE

a guy i know with a stretched 1k told me the tire made a huge difference he launches at 6 or 7k and weighs in at 170... think hes in the high 8's... been a year sence ive seen him..

I have a 3-9 inch adjustable arm from Spencers. When I first got it I set it up at 6 inches over and all I did was spin. I shortened it to 4 over and it helped a bunch, but what really made a HUGE difference was switching from a Dunlop 208 to a Shinko U003. It's amazing the difference, if I get it hot first it never spins even on the street.

Ya for $450 I've been looking at those arms really hard. I just wanna go back to completly stock later on.. I might go with just extentions and be done with it.,. A hole new arm is out of my price range I just wanna grab a 9.0 once on her..

) I need some help!!!
Over the winter i put on some extentions, changed up sprockets and added a few bolt on engine mods and now i cant hook to save my own butt. Im getting real tired of the 100ft burnouts when i just running up the gears, or just tryn to give it a little more to catch up.
Im running 20-25psi, i got 6 inch extentions, dropped one tooth up front and 2 up in the back. Front dropped 1.5" Back dropped to middle link. Lowered my spring rate and dampering to get some more weight transfer and still nothing. Getting a new 003 Shinko this week, hopefully this helps. Got anymore suggestions???
Too much gear? Too much extention? Need to eat more???(only weigh in about 160 wet)

I wanna do some motor work and possibly put a turbo on but if i cant hook why should I.
My buddy had the same problem with his turbo bike.....He moved to an 18 tooth front and is using a 45 rear.....Obviously use whatever rear you would like...and go to a 4inch ext. The shinko should take care of the rest....

(dolilind @ Jul. 24 2007,14:59) too much air pressure??? im only running 20-25 psi
On a non-prepped track I have lowered my Shinko 003 Ultra down to 15 psi and hooked. At a well prepped track like Noble, OK, I was wheelie-ing horribly bad with 25-28psi. The Shinko Ultra makes the difference.

No kidding, well hopefully it all works out with the tire, i hate to ruin the look i have created.
But then again i like riding it much better than looking at it.

It sounds like a combination of things making you spin. Too much gearing can do it, too long of an extention can do it too though with alittle suspension tuning that can take alot of it out. Get the right tire and run the right air pressure. My bike with a 1397 and even though i'm 300lbs it would spin the Diablo tire i had on, switched to an ultra soft Shinko and it solved it. Then my clutch went. If you start hooking though your gonna need that swingarm length. I bet you still wheelie even with it at 6 over from a hard launch..

I've put 250 hp to the ground no spinning with a 003 plain shinko with a stock shock.Heat/Tire Pressure is your demon, start at 12 psi and go up till it wants to spin then back it down.Heat center of tire then roll to both sides and let it smoke up to the line,NO DRY HOP.Roll front tire around water box and back into it,Never ride thru it.

I don't even back into the water box, which is probably hard on my clutch. BUT, I just don't want to take a chance of water being trapped above my rear tire.

Do you have your shock backed out so weak that it is possibly bottoming out?If the suspension can't work,it's gonna gernard the tire.003 shinko is a must, but the rear spring needs to be set properly.
Mine is stock wheel base, lower 1 in. front and rear.My rear spring is set kinda stiff for handle. At 4000 rpm's in 1st,I slap it WOT,it amazes me how hard this bike will squat in the rear.Very little wheel spin[warm tire and clean road]carry the front wheel 2-4in. off the ground and keep the throttle pinned.
But then again I'm 225 dripping wet with my upper body over the tank.
If the shinko don't help I would play with the rear suspension settings. Not just compression and rebound but spring setting also.Remember when you stretch a bike you put more leverage on the spring. It's worth a try if needed.

Let us know how it turned out

I left the spring itself along on dropped the compression rate to left the bike squat eaiser. That helpped a little. But i understand track on road setting are way different.

Im running strickly on the road. The local track here is 1/8 mile with very little shut down, (scares the crap outta me when i get down there). So i stay mostly on the streets for a little street foolishness. I got my extentions to help keep the front down. I dont mind wheelies but being this light i needed a little help keeping it down. I never did think about the traction issue becoming a factor.

BAD NEWS FOR ME...... i hate the dealer here, i bought the tire from them (i get wholesale price) 117 out the door. cant complain there, BUt get this had a appointment today to get it installed on the rim(i allready took it odd for them). got there at 8:45am, first thing in the am when they opened. After them having me take the wheel off, getting down to the dealer pick up the tire, and then the F^#*@R tells me that they might be able to slip it in. Ok about 4 oclock i go back down there (picking up parts for my shop). I get told well maybe tomorrow but i wouldnt count on it, you will have to leave it with us but now its looking more like monday. So I want my wheel back, "if you get it back we arent gonna do it to monday or later". Im like what the hell. Bad thing is they are the only shop within miles that mounts and balances bike tire. I HATE THAT PLACE everyone in town agrees with me, the service sucks. Bout ready to give up and start my own shop. might do well.

I will let you all know how the shinko works

once it get my dam wheel back.

i wish mine would light them up in the higher gears. I only get a little spin in 1st. Maybe cuz im still scared of it and cuz its just lowered on stock everything. im scared to clutch it i think itll come up

Stock tire will turn to greasy snot once you get it hot (if you smoke it at all)....you can forget about traction. The Shinko 003 offers decent grip.

6'' over, lowered and gear piled on......will never, ever, hook on the street. And riding with 20 lb's in the back tire is a accident waiting to happen.

The problem with bolt on extensions is that the minimum stretch is about 4.5'' still to long for a ''street bike" (and i would not risk my neck on bolt ons)

If you want the bike to hook on the street, limit the stretch to 3'' and close to stock ride height. Without a power adder anything more is a waste on the street.

Got the tire on. Works a little better, still spins like crazy in 1rst and 2nd from hard roll ons.
Raissed my front back up and gonna see if that helps tomorrow.

If not the next step is gonna happen. Having a new master link sent out so i can take the extentions off.
I starting to think i just dont have enuff ass behind me HEHEH. Put the wife on the back and hooks up like a champ. So im not about to run 100 pounds of lead in the rear.

May have some extentions, sprocket, break line, chain comming up for sale.
