Tires---which ones for good grip and mileage

Hello all, looking for some good tire recommendations. Need a good mix of grip and wear, got some Bridgestone Battlax Bt-016's. Love the grip, not pleased with the wear. I don't do track days and I don't ride in the rain, if that helps!!!

The CT2's I had lasted 15,000 miles before I replaced them. Yes that's right 15,000 miles. But I didn't do a single track day nor raced anyone. This was when I was driving my bike to and from work mostly daily driven miles.

I had no issues with pirelli angels. Commuting/mountain riding. Good grip and good mileage.

Also the front tire started to cup after about 9,000 miles if that helps. And I still rode it another 6,000miles.

Pirelli Angels, Michelin Pilor Road 2/3 or Avon Storms are good choices that will deliver the "mix" you're looking for.

Avon Storm 2 Ultras are what I have ran since they came out. Ran Storms since 2007. I get about 7k miles from a rear and 90% of that is 2up. Outstanding in wet weather and can drag knees with them. I have had mine to the top of 6th gear with no issues. Great tire!

You appear to have yourself a conundrum. A BT-16 is basically about as good as your going to get grip wise for a street tire. There are tires that will last longer but they will not give you as much grip. You don't have to be doing trackdays to appreciate/need the grip a good tire can give you.

How much grip are you willing to sacrifice for the sake of longevity?

That being said you will probably be happy with any of the sport-touring variants offered by the top manufacturers.

Absolutely...that being said, Bridgestone 016 in front. Bridgestone 023 in rear.

Mileage and opinions are going to vary depending on riding style.
I only run CT2's but I see nothing close to 15K
They last an avg of Rear:3500 Front 4500/5000. I ride to work round trip 70+ miles and weekend country backroad ride.

Tires are like using a scale.
One side you have traction the other side you have mileage.
Traction and bite, Michelin CT2's Dunlop Q2 which most are using that ride hard and take turns at a fast pace in a steep lean angle.
Mileage and traction Michelin Road3 have had the highest mileage here and still good traction.

Modern sport touring tires have an amazing amount of grip compared to what they were like just 5 or 6 years ago. I'm using a Q2 front and a Roadsmart rear to try to even out the wear a bit, and I've been impressed at just how hard I can get on the gas out on the edge of the tire without anything undue happening. Sure wouldn't be that brave on an old BT-020 or Pilot Road.
