To SEP or not SEP

My best guess is that they'd fight you tooth and nail to NOT cover something...my gut feeling is that if you mod anything mechanical, they'd not cover the bike...

If you trust your dealer, he may be able to tell you what exactly would void the warranty...

What is considered a good deal?
1. Being a member of Hayabusa.org where numerous others are willing to walk you through any problems you may encounter.

2. Listening to their advice and learning from their experience.

and then?...

3. Buying some tools and learning how to familiarize yourself with working on your own bike instead of paying a stealership $75 per shop hour so they can employ some young $10 an hour pimple farm to work on your bike...and act like they care...when they have an open window to "schedule you in"...typically sporting a 10day-2 week long waiting period....then when they finally do get around to working on your bike?..ya get the week long..."We're Waiting Ordered Parts" excuse...closely followed with the..."We'll Call You Whe It's Ready"....instructions...mixed with lotsa moments of a fine blend of anger and @$$- Ki$$ing just to get the job done and your bike back in a repaired state.....hoping and praying they didn't screw anything else up along the way.

Hayabusa.org...and it's members...and some tools of your own...."That's".....the best deal imnsho.

+1 JINKSTER!

I didn't want anyone touching my Busa...didn't trust 'em, didn't want to find out they did a rush job on my baby 'cause they were "backed up"...I'm thrilled with wrenching on it myself...I use the manual a lot, hubby helps...whatever I can to keep whatever happens under my control.

Granted, BIG problems could occur with any bike and there are just as many that insist the SEP is a must...like I said, it's a personal decision and then just hope for the best...

I got it... right on the last day of the first year because I thought my bike was burning oil. They said not but the starter finally bit the bullet long after the 1yr was over and they paid 100% of it to fix it. Saved me several hundred $ just on that, so in my case it was worth it. Now I have the rest of the years to have it actually save me some more $$

Yes...paid 630.00 for mine....and if I never use the extended warranty, I get a voucher for the 630.00 to use on anything at the stealership.
So, it's basically a freebie.
I wish auto insurance worked that way..."no accidents?...here's a rebate!"

I bought the SEP for my 2000 Busa. I blew the engine
at 87,000 miles. My shop replaced it with a different
engine. I'm back in business. Didn't cost me a thing.
I'm pretty sure that this was done because of the relationship
I have with my shop. They gave me now trouble at all
during any part of the process. I was back on the rode in 3 weeks. (*Engine wasn't brand new, was from a 2002 with
only 4, 000 miles on it). But, it was good enough for me.

SEP or any other extended warranty plan is a big money maker for the dealers. Stands to reason, the way they try to push it down your throat when you buy a motorcycle.

I never buy any extra coverage...not worth it to me...with all the info. here at the org I can find what I need right here...If something goes kaboom, well, it's like playing the odds, it's the chance I'm willing to take. I hope I did'ent just jinx myself

How the heck did you work that one out?
it's the standard policy at one local dealership.

they take a bit of the "pressure" off buying the warranty.
so I get 630.00 back at me in May of 2009...unless I require a repair that I feel needs to be covered by a warranty. It's going to have to be on good sized repair.

I bought one for my 99 and I worked at a dealership. WHY? it was the first year for the bike. it is now a model that has been unchanged for 7 years and just look at the boards and you can tell the BUSA is soild save your money and have a Merry Christmas instead
