Too quick might be boring

Welcome to the Org.
If you truly have NO faster roads, you might consider a smaller countershaft sprocket and/or a larger rear. If your not going to be able to go over 70mph, might as well set it up to snap your neck getting there.
Another thing, if you can't go fast, make it pretty(er). You can spend years (and countless $$) blinging a Hayabusa. Going slow, people can see it better.
Just a coupla thoughts.

I'm going to have to take a contrary view here. When I got my 2007 Hayabusa, I had absolutely zero expectation I'd ever race or hit triple digit speeds on a track. I was just in love with the appearance and legend of the bike and had to have one just to say I had one once. After about 14 months of owning mine, I can get a sense of overkill at times. When I'm riding in town while commuting to work or running an errand, I never speed and hardly get out of 3rd gear at most. Keep in mind, our bikes can easily pass 70mph in 1st gear. That's insane. If I didn't mind the revs, I could literally run an errand and not even shift once! Shifting ends up being an exercise in fuel conservation because I certainly don't need the extra legs to hit a whopping 30mph residential street speed limit. There are times where I honestly feel like I'm wasting the potential of this bike. I may change my mind depending on what comes out on the market in the next 5 years, but I'm pretty sure my next bike will be a notch or two below the Hayabusa. That way, I'm hoping I'll get to exploit a little more of my bike's potential. I may even get the throttle past 1/4 turn! I'm still madly in love with my bike, but there are frequent times when I wish I could use more of it's abilities.

Hey Chris,

I presume you know Reggiebusa of this forum who lives in Lisburn? He has a Red/blk.

I have a white K8 bought in Germany where i live now but soon to be imported to N.I where I'm coming back to live. I presume you're buying it from GS?

Re. your Q. - I wouldnt worry too much - just jump on a ferry when you have a need for serious speed to come to the mainland - last w/end just spend 2days on the Busa round the NurburgRing and it was awesome
cool.gif
The Busa performed admirably and despite having to throw on another rear tyre this bike is a real rush - will make a GSXR1000 seem like a moped in comparison

Enjoy and just choose your location according to your mood.

Pound for pound I don't believe you'll find a better all around machine. I love mine, It's definetly being all it can be.

Well guys I did the deed and bought the bike. I drove it 100 miles home today and I LOVEEEEEEE it. Thanks for all your great reviews and it helped mso much in deciding on the the purchase.

Thanks again, oh and I purchased it from McNultys in Enniskillen who were absolutely fantastic to deal with.

Thanks again,

Chris

Congratulations and welcome. Go up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket and get an exhaust you like and enjoy!

Ok 150 miles on the clock already and I had to get an exhaust on her as it was to quiet for me

So I went back to the shop later today and got them to pop on a pair of R77's. When I took it up the road it sounded heaps better but not as loud as I would have thought('

') So I got home and spent 3 minutes removing the baffles and hey presto I have the sound I want.
kickass.gif
A nice deep noise when ticking over and a lovely whirl on acceleration. Albeit not the loudest of cans but its enough to make me smile when i ride her. Now all I need is to run her in to hear what they sound like when I go over 5500RPM heehee.

I plan to get an air filter next, any thoughts on make pipercross, K&N etc etc. Also any other ideas that you think need to be done to a new bike.

Thanks

"Thanks for stopping by...."...."Boring

....No. Clumsy at low speeds (1-15 mph) until skill has been acquired
rock.gif
...yes. The finest piece of cruising machine I've ever owned !!! ABSOLUTELY...yep whether I'm cruising at the top of the needle (Warning: Do not come up until below 130mph)....or just soft-clutching around town....It's just plain amazing every time.....stable, comfortable, predictable, and did I mention the "Perma-Grin-Acceleration"
rock.gif
...... "Sold to the Irish", go sign the papers......so much you can do with it, racing, cruising, touring, staring.......it's simply a piece of art......

By the way,

Hi guys, This is my first post so please be patient LOL.

On Friday I am going to trade in a 600 Honda Hornet for a lovely new Busa LTD Edition Pearl White.

The one thing that keeps pressing on my (DONT BUY BUTTON) is that it might be boring.

LET ME EXPLAIN.

I live in Northern Ireland, UK. The roads that I ride on are not fast roads andything between 30-60mph is the norm.

I have spent the past week or so reading up on the Busa and I LOVEEEE how it looks and havent yet rode one.

I want to ask how it rides in low speeds? Will i get bored? When i ride the 600cc its a good bike for that type of speed it sounds nice and sits up high in the revs and sounds like im going really fast. I dont want to be sitting on this bike and riding at 60mph but thinking im at 20mph if you know what I mean.

Sorry for the waffling but i hope someone can understand what I am getting at and help me.

Hopefully it will be a good answer cause im so excited about getting one.

Thanks so much in advance,

Chris
hello mate i went to ireland last year and you have got some of the best roads in the world i love the A82 coast road that would be fun on a busa i was on a xjr1300 and loved it

I'm not kidding. I just don't like to risk lives or jailtime on rural roads that are most often lined with trees, fences or drop-offs. Just isn't the safest thing I can think of. There are awesome roads about 25-45 minutes outside the St. Louis County area, I agree. I just don't agree that it's safe or very good decision making to risk being arrested over. With that being said, the Hayabusa is an incredible bike. I just know that I'll never really see much of it's abilities in normal riding or even moderately agressive weekend rides. I'm not afraid of the bike, I just wish i could use more of its abilities while still living within the law.

The temptation of speeding is ever lurking when I get on my K8. However, to be employed with EMS, I have to maintain a clean driving record. So, I enjoy riding within the confines of reasonable speed and feel that I am not under-using the bike's potential. The comfort of the ride in general is far above my GSR600, and above the 750 and 1000s I've owned. The roads I ride to work here in my part of NC are mostly curvy and short, but the responsiveness of my bike makes those roads satisfying. Again, its a matter of taste. I don't get the high revs in higher gears like I do on my wife's 600; yet I don't get that laboring feeling of under-use that I would get at lower speeds on my 1000s. To me the 'Busa is all of the performance chacteristics I like about the GSXRs all rolled into one with a more comfortable ride. I curious to see what Sound1uk thinks about being a 'Busa owner after a few months of riding. Enjoy your 'Busa!!

Hey guys, thanks for the recent posts.
I have put around 400 miles on my new baby and I AM LOVING HER.
This is one awesome machine.
Even in C Mode it is soo smooth up and down the gears. The power is constant no matter what speed your doing. I am going on a charity bike run on sunday and can't wait to see what other bikers think of her.

Have fun and enjoy the feeling.
