top speed in gears

I just bought my black 07 and me and a friend got into a little discussion about what the top speeds were in every gear. I know that the sales man said that it has a governor at 186 in 6th but I know someone has to know about 1-5.

186 is when you go from 5th to 6th. no point unlees you got a tre. i hit 150 today is was fun

Somewhat different request but does anyone with a GPS know what speed you're running with stock tires and gearing when the tach reads 5,000 in 6th?

this gear calc will get you close....when you figure in ''slip'' it's about 3 or 4  % optomistic

Just found this online, not sure how accurate it is. I thought I hit about 150 in 3rd with mine (stock gearing and stock power).

Speed In Gears At Redline:
6th                                  199+ mph
5th                                  183  mph
4th                                  162  mph
3rd                                  137  mph
2nd                                  108  mph
1st                                    80   mph

you have to remeber most of the online gear calc are actual MPH not indicated MPH.... The speedo has always been off. That's why they invented the yellow box/speed healer. Also, as your speed increases you have tire growth so the actual speed is a little different than what the calc comes out to. You have to be very acuarate with your tires rolling circumfrence to be accurate.

my experiments on a totally stock bike with random tires, and a GPS are, roughly:

lower speeds: 5 off - indicated 50 = 45
med speeds: 10 off - indicated 110 = 100
high speeds: 15ish off - indicated 186 = 171

My take on this --with my GPS stock gearing --- 83 1st , 104 2nd , 129 3rd , 150ish 4th , and a fersure 176 in 5th and my personel best top speed in 6th 178--180 --maybe if i held it on for a few more seconds it would have shown 180 on the gps--- What a rush
Ps all of these numbers except 6th gear were done on the rev limiter.
Gotta love that 3rd gear number -- doesn't take very long to get there

You guys with gps, just remember it's not always deadly accurate. In order to get a true speed with gps you must be on perfectly level ground and traveling in a perfectly straight line. And,,,,,,,,,, your gps is always a step behind the bike due to the signal transmissions.

So, long story short, the actual wheel speed of your bike and the speed in which you are traveling over the radius (Which is what your gps calculates) of the earth is usually two different things.
