HI new to the forum and would like to say hello, and wish all riders a great and safe 2008.
Ive just got best deal on my new baby, can pick it up next week, so hoping  for good weather, It will be my first busha so I hope it feels as good to ride in comparison  with what ive been riding.
( R1 2006 and Special 2000 R1/7 ).
Anyone had the standard 08 topped out yet ?
Finding the ride position of the super sports to much now thats why im opting for the Busa ( Old age kicking in  ) and reading here how comfortable they are so lets hope i wont be dissapointed.

welcome!

and its a busa not busha?

dont worry about "topping" her out just yet,get the feel for her 1st,,there are lots of people who have "topped " her out and if you search the web you can find the suzuki video of it being ran hard around a closed course where it gets topped out on every straight away, its a good video

it tops out really quick and leaves you wanting more... you can feel that the bike wants to give it to you.. but its restricted.....

.........but not for long.

All stock Japanese motorcyces produced 2001 and later have been limited to 300kph or 186.4mph. That is easily corrected on the gen 1s, someone will chime in on the gen 2s. A stock (excluding the TRE) gen will not run 200mph. It will get close tho.

+1 on top speed-all Busas are limited to 186mph...along with every other bike produced right now.
dunno what you had on your R-1s, but unless you were ridn one w/NOS or a built motor-slow your roll son, or tha Busa will dump you on your head before you can even think to shut the throttle down!

I dont say this because Im an azz-I say this because its the truth. others here who know me can tell you too-I busted myself up only 2 mos. after buying my '03 bein stupid n not giving the Busa the repsect it deserves. You have NEVER ridden a bike that get to its' top speed as QUICKLY as tha Busa. Period.

take your time learnin the bike's "feel" and dial in the suspension for your weight/style of riding and just have fun with it-if you start out trying to bury the speedo needle, your friends n family mite be burying YOU....seriously take your time gettin used to the Bus' stock, then go grab a TRE to de-restrict the limiter if you really feel a need...and PLEASE: dont top this thing out on public roads in traffic-I hate comin on here n readin obituaries of bikers downed on new bikes....

I topped my bike out in 5th gear one late night a few weeks ago.

I also came from a '06 R1. Hated to see her go but after a 300 mile ride to TN, found I couldn't keep that bike, and needed something more comfortable. My wife has a ZX-14 and to tell you the truth, in the comfort department, the ZX is head and shoulders above the Busa. The busa is only slightly more comfortable than my R1. Other than that, I love the bike. Took me 700miles, then a quick ride after that on the ZX to realize how much I fell in love with my new Busa. At first I was expremely uncomfortable on the bike, then after some encouragement saying I would get used to it, I kept going. Like I said, it took 700miles, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Getting a Tobin seat next month, I'm sure that will help alot.

Oh yeah, Welcome.

So what do you have to do to derestrict
rock.gif
?

Commander ?, exhaust ?, Electrics ?.
none of that will do anything to your top speed-its governed by a rev limiter built into the 6th gear positon sensor-a TRE (timing retard eliminator) will fool your bike into thinking its still in 5th when you go into 6th-this means the bike will run the fuel map for 5th gear and keep delivering fuel all the way to redline, hence the ability to go above 186mph.

The PCIII usb would allow a tuner to play w/your maps a bit for better running engine, but unless you already have other mods done to motor (full pipes, air filter, airbox mod, etc) it wont really be of any use. likewise w/any other electronics box that alters fuel/ignition/timing.

Great reading the feed backs amazing what you can learn.

I had a R1/7 specialy built for the 2000 Isle of Man TT that done genuinely 200 Mph it had £24.000 spent on it before I had the honour to buy it at £11.500. The TT go cancelled by the way because of the foot and mouth or at least that what I was told, so thats how I ended up with it, and beleive me I ridden it like a ***** untill I got the feel for it. So the busa will have the same respect. I love the 06 R1 but the R1/7 would put it to shame.
When I Sat on the R1/7 for 3 years it felt like i was putting my best pair of knackered Training shoes on.

Hope to get that feeling back.....

I had my '08 up to (indicated) 170. Absolutely solid.

But, as reported above, it's limited to 186, so that'll be as fast as mine will go (for now...).

Good luck, congratulations, and WELCOME to the mayhem.

It's usually difficult, especially if you weigh more than a buck 20 or so. To many 250 punders can only achieve 178 or so on a gen I. We have a female on here that did 186 at Maxton on a stock '06, but I'm not sure what stock exactly means.
