Traffic light trigger

Got a catalog yesterday and was looking at a product they sell that they claim will trigger any stop light without the help of another vehicle. They're described as being nothing more than a compact and powerful magnet that will help the sensors embedded in the road recognize your bike. They actually have 2 kinds....normal and high powered. They are $15 and $25 respectively. Just wondering if anyone has heard of or uses one.

i've heard they are a waste of money... especially for $20 - $25 bucks for a magnet... i'd call the D.O.T. in your area and tell them about the lights you have problems with.

The only way to tell is find a light that NEVER works for bikes . Theres a couple near my house . I either wait for a car or just go threw it. I'd like to get one and try it but i don't want to spend the cash . They've been out for a while now.

I had trouble at several lights in my area... and a few that I've encountered along the way. I got one of the triggers for Christmas and after installing it - I revisited those lights I had trouble with and what do you know, they see me now.

I give em two thumbs up and worth the money (when you think of the potential tickets, hazards, and frustration involved).

I've pondered the question myself. Depending upon where you stay the light may be rather antique (like some in my town) and run off of pressure sensors underground. That being the case the light trigger wouldn't do me much good.

By the way, it's a tiny little magnet but strong as heck, so don't be fooled by its appearence. It's got a sticky on one side to help it stay put, though the magnet is strong enough I doubt it would come of anyway. I installed mine on the underside of the Busa near the radiator.

I think it made the bike faster too!

I repair traffic lights and IMO they would be a waste of money, call
your Traffic Control Office or report it to the police. Most likely the cause is the detectors sensitivity isn't set correct, bad loop in street and if its Video Detection the camera may be out of line.
