Transporting the hayabusa

Check around , I found a place that rented enclosed trailers with wheel chocks and 4 tie down points made for hauling motorcycles and they were only $45.00 a day . And my bike didn't get exposed to the rain and road debri .

busa boy batman is right.....650 miles ride the thing. take a day...enjoy life......leave early in the morning....take plenty of rests and gas and food stops...you will still be there by nightfall

You only live once!!!

I did a 450 mile ride last tuesday...took less than 7 hours...lots of stops, lots of food and resting my arse....but another 200 would have been not too much of a problem. I had to get home to the wife....

Save yourself some money, and time by just having fun riding the best sport tourer on the road.

If you want to spend some money invest in some decent luggage for you machice and rain gear and go !

Hitting cycle gear tomorrow to see if I can find any decent luggage. Sport Touring windscreen just showed up so I guess that is taken care of. My only concern is getting "LOST" along the way...no time to get the GPS hooked up right.

My main problem is - riding for several hours on the interstate is boring and it ruins the shape of my rear tire...gives them a "flat" centerline that causes handling problems in the twisties.

Dont get me wrong - I love riding the Busa for several hours together...but the interstate is the most boring and dreary environment in which to do that...

Aah well...i'll make a pukka decision soon

just get the uhaul truck, but loading up and down will be a hassle, if you can get over it, then rent the truck, kickstand down, in 1st gear, tiewrap the front break, and used the tie down...good to go.
never had a problem, if it is a f150 or 1500 chevy...its very heavy to load it up and down...

The UHaul trailers I once looked at did not have tie downs in the enclosed trailers. I had to use an open trailer.

Doing a couple of full throttle twist can make a long trip short and sweet.

A GPS would be nice to have but isnt neccessary when touring if your going from point A to B. Just (Mapquest) or write down on a piece of paper of all your exits and turns placed on the top of your tank bag that has a clear map cover to protect it from the outside elements.
Start early in the morning so you dont have any problems reading your directions.

Keep your knees in the breeze and have a safe trip and return !!!

Thats it dammit...I am riding my ass over to PA...I may arrive there ready to be sacrificed to the gluteus maximus god...But I will RIDE!!!

hey i'm all about road trips, but 650 miles would hurt. plain and simple.

i do the trip from norfolk to pittsburgh in my truck once a month - leave at 9:00pm and it's still a 6 hour ride. on a bike to erie, driving i-95 in that horrible traffic, i would double that. if it were me i'd be getting a trailer.

my longest ride was 4.5 hours from pittsburgh to baltimore (on a 1200 bandit) and that fuggin hurt. the busa would definitely be more comfortable, but i'd have to stop quite a bit.

good luck man, any way you decide!

Well, nobody really addressed moving a bike in an enclosed U-haul.
Got to be a way to tie the sucker down in a plain closed trailer. I am friends with a guy that rents U-haul trailers. I'll poke around and see if I see a way.

WAAAAH

If any of you are getting frustrated that I am still wavering...the only reason is:

1- bad weather on the busa = SOL
2- I am tall and my ass hurts after an hour in the saddle (stock seat)
3- Havent lowered the pegs yet so my legs cramp too
4- Food and Drink become luxuries
5- I dont have time to plan this ride carefully (leaving on sunday morning)

My conservative side is telling me to trailer it, go to Erie and enjoy the ride there...

I'll let ya'll know my final decision after checking out the U-Haul option tomorrow...

OMG this thread is killing me!

650?  Just MAN UP and ride it!

I have ridden my bike tank to tank for 22 hours straight, slept for 4-5 and did another 12.  Two days later I returned home(honestly it did take a bit longer going home again).  Truth?  It was November , Canada, and it actually snowed a bit.

Your doing all this just to show off a bike to your friends?  Quit posing and ride the F%$#ing bike! That's , er, why you bought it isn't it?

If only Pashnit could see you now..

Pack light, nessasary items only, drink lots of water, and if the top gets a bit flat, buy new tires when you get home (Cheaper than U-Hual).  One 650 trip isn't going to hurt them that much anyways.

Seriously.  If you have concerns you can PM me and I will offer any advice I can, but just ride your bike.  Rain? Bah!  It is always raining somewhere.  If you can't ride in the rain, you will learn quickly.

Do it.  You will be proud of yourself when your done.  Suck it up and you will find a new love for that bad boy.  The bike can do it, can you.....

PS

... all of our asses hurt after a few hours in the saddle.  Move around alot, get gas, stop for a pic, take a cd player with you...and, getting lost just means a little adventure.

Looks like the trailer option is out of the question now...there is only ONE trailer available at U-Haul and it is 140 miles away = 280mile round trip.

MC - where do you live? How far from Raleigh are you? I can rent a car there, ride over to your place, trailer it the rest of the way...

HELP!!
