I love the sporty sound of louder bikes. I thought long and hard about cutting down my muffer. But, after a day in the saddle, a reasonable DB is appreciated.

You can cut off 4"-6", which is very noticeable looking at it, and it really won't be any louder, the tone will change, it will be deeper, but it won't be intolerable...and I have shortened alot of mufflers, and prefer them quiet.
Does your muffler have the quiet insert in the tip?
How would I know?
I read Impala SS and thought of a "real" Impala from the '50s and '60s.....Ever get jealous? Green-eyed monster jealous? I really wanted an Impala SS back in the day. Aaand my brother-in-law came home with a brand-new '96 model. The one with the floor shift / center console. Crap. I couldn't even dream of such a purchase and here he was driving it. Damn.
Turned out he couldn't afford it either. But still...
So I try to give in to "reasonable" indulgences periodially. To make life worth living. It's great to save for someday. But can't we enjoy today as well? A balancing act to be sure. So I have identified the Suzuki as my indulgence. Once in a while I buy a farkle or two. To really get the most out of the excercise I think one should invest a bit of effort researching which farkle, then sit on it for a bit. See if you really want the farkle in question. Then go for it. Now you can enjoy the time installing, using and talking about your new acquisition. All those 50 hr weeks working for the man are redeemed when you pull up at the soda stand and some like-minded enthusiast exclaims: "Say, is that the left-handed super farkle I read about in Bad Ass 'Busa magazine?!" Why yes. Yes it is...
And now he is the green-eyed monster...
I loved my 66 Impala SS396 with a Turbo 400 tranny. Was a dark green two door hardtop.
You're not alone. In the bike shop on Saturday I saw mountains of used sport bikes all fitted with tiny little cans. The guy that shepherded me on a test-ride took his own bike and at one point I told him to hang way back because I couldn't hear my own engine over the bark of hisI love the sporty sound of louder bikes. Look into the tip of the muffler, it's a metal insert held in by a set-screw.
Post a picture if you're unsure.
You can buy one if you don't have one, cut your muffler sleeve shorter, really play with the sound.
Nope, no baffle
