True Busa and Z12 fight

GSXR1360R,

When are you going to take that bike to the track? I know you didn't build it to ride around in the streets only. Has your friend raced his ZX-12 yet. How fast?

Good unbiassed report Ambush...

Must make you busa guys wonder though... if the kawa rider weighed 20 pounds more and he was still on your tail. What's that tellin ya?

It's telling you to go to the track and see if you see a ZX12 going under 10.0's! I'm at the track every weekend just about, all diffrent tracks, and I've only seen one ZX12 run under 10.0's. Which of course was Gadson by the way...

I am at the track every Friday Night and I haven't seen one in the 9's yet either. Lowered, piped, geared 10.0's@143. I have seen a stock 12R with a good rider(I know him)run a 10.15@140 he weighs about 220 lbs.
They run pretty good, I'd say comparable to the BUSA but I have not seen anything close to the times posted on LA. ZX-12's board. At least not with the normal average rider and a standard 6 or 7k rpm launch. Gadson loves the 10,000rpm, fry the clutch launches but normal people are not going to abuse their bikes like that. BTW my friend that ran the 10.15 was on his 2nd clutch pack with only 400 miles on the bike, he had 2 more sets of frictions in the truck and was leaving a 9k!Riding the clutch the most of first gear!

In response to the 20 lb part. I don't think that would make much of a diff because I was wearing Full body amour and he was wearing jeans and a leather jacket also my launch or 0-70 pulled harder than his bike.(that's where I got my lead. After that though it seemed to be about the same. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Busa. But now I'm not thinking so badly of the Kawi. (For speed) maintenance for the Kawi. That’s another story

Sub 10 second runs on ZX12's are not that difficult to find. We are racing one out of our shop that has gone 9.74 and easily over 143 MPH with a pipe and air filter mods and tuning on our dyno. This rider although decent is far from a pro. Please understand that I mean not to sound "challenging" but if I could help anyone, I will. Those of you driving too conservatively off the starting line need to be more aggressive or stop whining about slow ET's and MPH's. I have a tuning program in place for the ZX12's that
will yield over 170 Rear wheel horsepower and a similar program for the Hayabusas too with no internal part changes. Freddie

My Busa makes 200 rwhp and I weigh 200 and sometimes I do battle with my friends ZX-12. He weighs 195 lbs. which and has a Muzzy Pipe and down 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket and let me tell you guys the real truth... I get by him pretty good throughout the whole rpm range but he'll punish any Busa with less than 180 hp guaranteed! Don't mess around with the 12 when it has the 17 tooth sprocket because you may be sorry...

Ok people here it is, a real life Kawasaki and Suzuki fight. I pull off of I-5 and I come across a man who owns a Kawasaki ZX12. We talk about which bike is faster and yadda yadda yadda. One thing leads to another and we are back on the interstate pushing these 2 very powerful bikes. The busa was in the lead but not by much. Maybe one bike or a little more. I weigh 180 and I think his weight was somewhere around 200. At any rate the kawi isn’t really all that bad when it comes to speed. We never took either bike to the Max speed, but how many times are you going to go that fast anyway. My point is from 0-160 both bikes are fast in getting there. Only the busa is a little faster.

GSX1360R (Bionic Busa),

I see you even talking sh!t over here. Somebody said that you'll never match Jason Miller's 9.2's on a "stock" motored, stock wheelbased BUSA with that big block BUSA of yours.

What's up with that? When are your leathers coming in? I hope you can back all that trash talkin up, but I hear you're from the old school and know how to drop the hammer so I wouldn't necessarily be surprised, but I've got to see it to believe it.

When you gonna do a roll on with X-MAN?

I think you'll have your hands full.

Hey Mark, because of the rule at the track where you have to wear leather pants I'm forced to chill in the street until my leathers get here which will be soon. I enjoy street riding much more anyway because I burned myself out with the track years ago but I intend to go a few times just to see what this thing will do. I've scorched a few guys who think they're fast already so the streets' been good to me. As for the ZX-12 that I run with, he needs an arm to be real competitive...

GSX1360R
It is raining here so i will shoot the bull with you. I am in s. florida so the only way we will know how fast your friend is if he goes to the track. Or maybe he has been
there already, My questions are

#1 what times 1/4 mile ?
if he has not been, your honest guess.
10.3- 10.0- 9.9- 9.7- 9.5- or 9.0
crazy question but lets see
if you give an honest guess.
because we are all going to see
yor times sooner or later and your
faster than your friend with that
big motor, right and he only has a pipe.
#2 I think motorhead has a stock motor
just a pipe air box mod and runs 9.5s
would you say your friend is faster than
M.H. or J.C.
I am talking about right now not
after he gets swingarm and all the
other b.s.
#3 is your friend faster than jason that runs 9.20s
you should not guarantee anything
like i said most guys not all.
you dont have to answer #3 i know the answer already. just # 1&2
thanks have a nice day
still think your allright you own
a busa good luck at track.

The truth is that both the Busa and the ZX12 are fast. Which will win a race is debatable, it would depend to a great degree on rider skill. That is except for the most important race: the sales race. The Busa is killing the ZX12 on the sales floor.
I just visited a large dealer in the Boston area. They carry Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda. All of their Hayabusa's have been sold for some time. They received eight ZX12's all had deposits on them before arriving. After the bikes arrived seven out of the eight prospective buyers asked for their deposits back. What color would you like? Discounts can be had. The ZX12 is a marketing nightmare for Kawasaki.

I have to agree with YIKES. Both bike are almost equall. Yes the busa is faster, but not by much, and to be fair to Kawasaki they had to make there bike slower due to legal reasons. This combined with bad P.R. causes the kawi not to sale. My true reason was looks. The Busa just look like a real MACHINE.

Are you trying to be a comedian,
just read your post and laughed
my azz off. he will punish any busa under 180 hp guaranteed.
Depends on who is on the busa.
If your friend is a real good rider he might be able to beat most joe smoes.
not any busa under 180 hp.
I have stock motor just pipe and pc2
so that meant me, i dont think so.
there are a couple of guys on board who can ride. you should say most guys
under 180 hp
no ofense taken, enjoyed the laugh.
have a nice day.

GSX1360R,

Is Tyrone trying to run that ZX-12, Ronnie Reece said he'll race him. Ronnie only dynoed at 142hp with stock pipes. Now he has a hindle, pcII and airbox mod.

Ice Man do yourself a favor and stay away from DC if you only have a pipe and PC 2 because this 12 will run by you... Mark, I'm pretty sure Tyrone will blast with Ronnie...

All this talk about racing gets me wodering. Does anyone know if there are any Hayabusas that have been 8s on stock wheelbase and normally aspirated? I am not asking for names just if anyone has witnessed one.

I love this thread. The problem with the 12 is that the wheelbase renders it damn near useless with more power or gear reduction.
All the players here have seen them at the track and I dont know what anyone else saw but it looked pretty clear to me that the 9second barrier is pretty elusive. More time will tell but more power or gearing will only compound the problem. The bikes tall and short, busas long and low. You tell me.
